Yesterday was the opening of Season 3 for the DJ Classic and with the exception of my finishing position I couldn't have asked for a better day.

We had 10 racers show up and everyone was excited to try out the new format for this season. Everyone pushed these Kia's to their limit for 25 minutes and in the end le3rik, Joe and Splat proved to be the top 3 for the day.

  • If you place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd and started from the 10% reduction bucket you will receive 2 bonus points and move to a 15% reduction bucket for the next race.
  • This pattern will continue until you place 4th or lower and then you can rejoin the regular Racers bucket.

 20 18 17 16 15

A DNF due to Lag Out, Wreck Out or simply not finishing before the End of Race timer will still receive at least 5 points or 1 point less than the last person to finish the race if there are less than 15 racers at the start.

Yesterday was the finale of Season Two of the DJ Classic. As you can see from the pic above I did not fare too well. We did have a couple of firsts yesterday though. Blew finished in 1st place for the first time in a DJ Classic race and Drop was the first person to earn a bonus point for his 3rd place finish with a handicap.

Yesterday we packed up the IROCs and headed to Italy for a 15 lap race around the Mugello Club circuit. This track is somewhat deceptive. From an aerial view it appears to be a fairly simple track with very few turns but don't let that fool you. The first turn is sharper than it appears and requires precise braking to slow down from the speed of the straightaway and the final turn is downhill and off camber requiring very precise throttle control or you will find yourself drifting towards the far wall. Even entering the pits can be tricky with the wall that juts out from the left side of the entrance.

Despite the difficulties of the track itself we had a very good race. 11 racers made it to the track and no one lagged out. Stick, Joe and Splat headed out to the front of the pack early and stayed there battling amongst each other for the lead. As always search the storefront for DJ CLASSIC if you would like to watch the replay.

The very first IROC race outside the US was a big success. 9 Racers made the jump across the big pond and for the first time in the history of the DJ Classic no restart was necessary as everyone made it through the first lap without a serious incident. The handicap system seems to be working very nice also since we have a top 3 this week that is completely different than last week. Remember though, the handicap system is not there to penalize anyone for being fast. Its there to ensure that we still have a close race in the overall points at the end of the season so that the last race of the season still means something. So good luck to everyone as the season continues.

Excellent and exciting race today. As you can see from the pics we had a pretty good crash early in the race but all parties involved managed to keep going long enough to make it to the pits for repairs. Then with only a couple of laps to go Raven suddenly lagged out of the race. Afterwards the racers conferred and decided that he should be able to retain his position since he was solidly in second place and it did not appear as if anyone would be able to overtake him. Since everyone was in agreement I have decided that Raven will be able to keep his second place standing in the race. Because of this decision though all racers will receive points as if they finished the race even if they did not make it across the line before the timer ran out.

While only 8 of the possible 12 racers eligible for the final race were able to compete we still had a very exciting race. The top 5 contenders stayed up at the front of the pack and we saw quite a few lead changes, especially as racers began to make their mandatory pitstops. On the final lap Joe was firmly in the lead until he made a miscalculation and went off to the inside of the track just slightly on the final turn where Splat was finally able to overtake him for the win. Congratulations to all of the racers this season and especially to our Top 3 Overall.

Today is the day. Its a 10 lap race to the championship and with less than 10 points separating the top 5 spots anything could happen. There are a few differences in the rules compared to the rest of the season. Since its only a 10 lap race the mandatory pitstop will be after 3 laps instead of 5 and the Sin Bin will have a 3 second delay instead of 1 second. Also, anyone who did not complete at least 2 races earlier in the season will not be eligible to race today.

So lets see some good clean racing and may the best driver win.

It's race day again folks and my Starion is ready to go with a new paintjob. Hopefully everyone will be gawking and forget how to drive and I can sail right past to the checkered flag. (wishful thinking) But seriously, things are very close at the top of the overall standings and with the technical aspect of today's race we could see a shift in the leaders.

In other news, I have started a forum post on the Race site to discuss what car to run next season. I have also been in talks with Joe Cool about his SCCA races that he wants to start and we were thinking that since the Wednesday timeslot seems to have quite a few racers available that we would share it. Which means that Season Two would run on every other Wed. and Joe's SCCA would run on the opposite Wednesdays. That's not set in stone just yet but I wanted to throw it out there just to give everyone a heads up on what the possible future plans are at the moment.

That all for now. Good Luck Everyone.

Excellent race today. After 2 red flag starts the 3rd time was the charm and went off without a hitch. 12 racers started the race and 11 managed to cross the finish line. WildKirk and Joe elected to start at the back of the field and still managed to finish the race 1st and 2nd although Splat, Digi and Raven weren't too far behind them. As for myself, I managed to hold onto 2nd for the first 2 and half laps and finished in 8th. As always the replay can be found on my storefront by searching DJ CLASSIC S1R4 and be sure to watch Nolan's run down the back straight on the second lap for a great rolling wipeout. :)

Its the morning of Race day again folks and half the season is behind us. The top of the overall standings is very close. With only 3 points separating the top 4 spots anything could happen.  Well I did it folks. I managed to finish my first race of the season. I didn't finish real high on the leaderboard but at least I managed to get some points. We did have 3 Lag outs and 1 wreck out but overall it was a very tight race.

Its about 2 hours before the start of the race today and I'm about to go get some lunch. I really hope to put a few points on the board today. I've spent a lot of time since the last race rebuilding and tuning the car. I must have tried at least 5 different configurations before settling on what I'm going to run and then i worked on a new paint job for it. Cuz we all know that a flashy paint job can make a car at least 5 miles an hour faster. :)

The race is over and I'm a little disappointed, but only in my own performance. I once again walk away with no points and this time its not because I wrecked but even worse I simply was so slow I couldn't make it across the finish line before the race timer ran out. My only solace is that I wasn't the only one.

As for everyone else that did cross in time, they had a great race. The usual suspects were at the front of course and a newcomer to the series, Joe Cool, took first place by a considerable margin. The replay can be found by searching the storefronts for DJ Classic S1R2.

The DJ Classic starts today. It will be my first ever organized racing series and coincidentally this is also my first ever blog post.

For those that don't know DJ Classic is a series of 6 races over the course of 6 weeks, in which all participants use the same Make and Model of vehicle. You can tune and upgrade the car as you see fit as long as it fits within a set of parameters determined ahead of time.

For the inaugural season we are using a Mitsubishi Starion upgraded to B Class with Front and Rear Aero required and 300hp or less.

I'll be back after the race with an update of how things went.
