I am on an neverending quest to optimize my UI for my class. 

I thought I'd go ahead and share my UI as it is right now, for my main character, a Combat Rogue. 

I was interested in:
Combo tracking (seen on target name plate) 
Cooldowns
Tricks
Seeing my Focus Target (for tricks, under my name plate) 
Seeing who the target is hitting (name plate under target) 
Mostly open space in the middle other than my Aura Bars
Clean, compact overall look
When I'm out of combat, my own nameplate is hidden. 

The UI is customized ElvUI. I used to have Elv_HUD, but it broke and I haven't been able to fix it so I changed to this current look.

Studying Habits

I thought I'd share what I do when I study for a raid encounter. Maybe you have an extra tip, or maybe my process can help you!

I start off with:

1. Read the fight encounter in text. My usual source is Icy-Veins.  Take notes of important mechanisms I want to remember. 

2. Go to Elitist Jerks and click on the Rogue section and read what they recommend for this particular fight (talent, spec, abilities, etc.). Add to my notes. 

3. Go to FatBosstTV and look at the video. Because I cannot hear the audio, I have to look at it several times and each time, I look at something different on the screen. Sometimes it's as many as 10 times. 

4. Go and find a Rogue POV video of the same fight. 

5. Go and visit Deaf Gamers Network and access their discussion section about World of Warcraft and the associated video in American Sign Language. 

6. Review my notes and I'm ready to go!

Lucky Weekend

What a lucky weekend! Fiery Horse from Karazhan and the Time-Lost Proto-Drake. 
 Granted, they are both a couple expansions old, I feel lucky to have found/gotten them. 

I nearly fainted when I saw the reins for the Fiery Horse in the loot table. I had the slimmest hope that I'd ever see it. I try to run Kara every week since the start of Cata. 

Fiery Horse on Saturday, July 14, 2012. After SV's raid. 



Time-Lost Proto-Drake at 12 AM pacific time on Sunday, July 15, 2012. I went by on a whim after finding spawns in the Cata zones. Blazewing in Mt. Hyjal, Armagdillon in Uldum, Sho'shakra in Abyssal Depths all within 15 minutes before the midnight mark. Figured I might as well check out Storm Peaks. I was really lucky with this. There was no one out there and when the npcscan first went off, I couldn't find him. I had to log out of the game, clear the cache and log back on, turn up my viewing distance and found him on the mountainside with the nest between Bor's Breath and the Brunnhildar Village.  My hands were shaking when I saw him and caught up with him in a perfect spot where falling death would not occur. 



This brings up my collection of mounts to 128 plus 2 from my alt. I just really like collecting mounts!

Finally!!!!!! About 2 years of trying, fished this one up in Tol Baradin early morning of July 7, 2012, from a Fathom Eels pool! Now I can turtle into MoP happily!

While I was soloing the H. Pit of Saron for my 250 Grisly Trophies and a chance at the Battered Hilt, I decided to free the slaves in there. One of them was a dwarf who said this (see yellow text in middle)...




I just giggled.
