I've noticed many more fledgling Rogues creeping out from under rocks and entering the Horde hall and I thought I would pass on some points about Rogue skills.First off - Rogues have more skills than ANY OTHER CLASS! Forget what you heard or thought before. . . They do...enough said about that. Here is what I (Smegma) did to get many of my skills up. This is not the only way to do it, but I found it a good way to do many skills at once. This process presupposes a macro key which activates: Hide, sneak, intimidation, Pick pockets, disarm, sense and disarm traps, backstab and sense heading. Make one first! Now, get your lockpicks and head to Paineel...if you don't know where it is...forget it these tips are not for you and you are no Rogue I would admit to knowing.Go to the big stone to the right as you enter the Paineel tunnel, careful not to go straight cause then u fall into the HOLE and u die.So, once at the Paineel stone (which is the key to open the door to Paineel), put your lockpicks on the cursor and click on the Paineel stone. It should turn and a section of the wall in front of you will shift up or down, revealing a doorway. You can continue clicking on the stone and as you get the timing right it will activate your lockpick skills each time. While clicking on the stone, you can hit the macro key and engage all the above mentioned skills each time you hit the key. You will, of course, get a message saying you sense no traps, too far away to disarm etc. but it doesn't matter the skill still goes up.Now the fun part. After you get bored of opening and closing the Paineel door, open it once more, go inside the door, turn, and click it closed. Hide and sneak as the elevator room goes down. Once you reach the next level of Paineel, sneak out (still hiding, of course). There are two skeleton guards, each in opposite alcoves in the passage way ahead. Con them first and if they are LB (maybe even DB) or less you are fine for the next step . If you agro both guards you may need to run out using lockpick on the stone to get elevator up and try again when you are a little higher level.Otherwise, sneak behind the one on the right ( you can't get behind the one on the left anyway). Engage the macro and you should pick his pockets and then backstab. Continue attack using all the macro skills. Once he runs at 25% health, stop attacking, use your macro only to intimidation and Backstab and everything else of course. Finish him off with BS when you tire of him and loot ( they have a shield 4-5 plat and a sword of 5 -7 plat). Do the other guard when you are able but you won't be able to BS until he runs. Now go thru the door in front of you and sneak (of course) into the next room. Here you will see a Soulbinder and to the right another skel guard. He is a higher level than the outer two so he may see your sneak for a while but eventually he won't. You can squeeze behind him to repeat the PP/BS attack macro. Loot will be same as other two guards. Lastly, target the Soulbinder and go back up and out using the elevator you came down. Resume your lockpick attempts on the rock but now your intimidate skill will engage because you have the SB targetted. After about 12 mins (though you should time it for certain), the guards reset and you go down the elevator and repeat the whole process again. I did this whenever I had time to waste and all the mentioned skills went up constantly. Try it, you'll like it.Lumbar said he liked to ride up the wall section and then jump off the top to raise safe fall skill, but I thought it too close to the edge of the Hole to risk it....up to you. Me... I'd rather run up and down the hills in GD to get that skill up.Hope you find this useful, feel free to pass it on to other Rogues, only, mention my name. Oh, yeah ...one last thing. I assume you know you can PP a NPC as you run by him/her, right? Never pass one without trying. I've made lotsa plat off the Haven guards in Netherbain etc. as I streak by. However, wait till your PP is at least 150 or better cause they get pissed sometimes and attack you. Hehe, the life of a Rogue.Smegma

Hrrrm. I don't think you can get more than 5 skills on a hotkey. The only multiple commands you can use on a single line is /pause. Anything else after the first /doability is ignored.

For those of us out there that like to do a little AFK practice, here's a couple hints I've used.

Lockpicking:
Find any locked door with no undead or other mobs that see invis and hide close to it. Put your lockpicks on your cursor, position over the door and (thanks for the tip Sabrekitten!) mash the "U" key down with your favorite technique (I like to use a penny between the keys). Come back in a bit and see how much skill you've raised.

Disarm & Intimidation:
To practice these, park yourself behind a guard in Nexus - they won't aggro or be affected, much like the NPC's in PoK. Set up a macro key with disarm and intimidate and mash that key down.  I also used this session to max out sense traps and disarm traps.

Now, if I could just find something to practice Pick Pockets on, I'd be one happy rogue.

Hope this helps, and Slay Well!

Rogue Hide/sneak is invis to undead.  At low levels you just need to be sure that both sneak and hide have "taken" (rogues will get confirmation messages about them both).

I used to sneak into befallen and practice lockpicking on the first locked door (second door on your left).  Planar rogues can practice lockpick in Plane of Tranquility,  You stand on the desk in the building you zone into, and click near the door out.

Having only levelled my rogue alt up to 10 so far I am by no means an expert but I created a macro that turns autoattack off, picks the pocket of the mob I'm fighting, and does sense heading and hide, then turns autoattack back on. Seems to work pretty well so far, you just have to hit it after you attack and your autoattack should be back on before your attack timer refreshes (using a 29 speed weapon I think).

Grawl, yeah, that's exactly what I did.  (And when I had pickpocketing maxed, I'd substitute begging in that macro .. they are on the same timer)

You can skill up pickpocketing on green mobs, and if they are REALLY green you can do pick them over and over and they wont' aggro.

And someday, when you get Shroud of Stealth, you can sneak up behind Vox and Naggy and pickpocket them (if they catch you at it, by that time, all they'll do is banish you .. a convenient way out of the dungeon!)

I used to intimidate things as I ran across a zone. Even if you are far out of range, you can get skillups.  Or I'd go all the way into Neriak 3rd gate, and stand on one side of a bridge, fishing and intimidating the guard on the OTHER side of teh bridge.  You can also intimidate other players.  And some boats.

First, a warning for those who AFK practice your skills: If the GMs get a complaint, i.e., someone wants to go through that door you keep picking, they may knock you off and give you a warning or something . Choose wisely .

I haven't tried begging during combat, but theft can be funny. How do you get a chunk of the meat of the lizard you're fighting? I'll have to try the begging idea as my pickpocketing is maxed out. Oh, and don't attack with that macro when you're in a group, unless you're the looter.

For PoK Disarm practice (this also applies to the non-rogues with Disarm skill, too), play with the two fishermen in the back pond in PoK.

In theory, this could happen.  In actuality, I've never heard of any GM taking such a move on Al'Kabor for afk practicing of any sort.  (Spells, songs, intimidate, swimming, etc etc).  It's pretty rare we have even a guide on, let alone a GM that could knock you off, let alone a GM that actually would do it.

But it is considered tacky to afk practice things that are irritating to other players, in places that they might be affected.  And you might hear about it in the rants on eqmac <g>.
