I have drifted from it, but Charliee (and Keada) were/are allot like me, It's like Hemingway said, Write what you know. I started that on the White Wolf Unmods, a Digichat Live RP online that was free. It was text based, and in ways, had much greater RP freedoms that a MMO Ever Could have!

Anyway, I played a White Wolf Mage,( LOve MAGE!) Felix_Wyse there (still do) since maybe summer of 2000. I've been amazed at how the line blurred between the character I was playing, and me just being myself in a foreign world. Eventually I realized that the only things different between myself and what Felix had become was err maybe 20 pounds, and a sperate world. Which was a blast because I felt like i was able to relate so much easier to situations.

However on SWG, Charliee is much closer to the Felix_Wyse character I am speaking above. The Phelix Wyse I sometimes play on SWG, is a completely different person full of cynicism.

Edit>  P.S.  its also been sugested that it was Lazy RP. Those people were only teaaing me that said as such, but I had a habit of doing such at Table Top games, and LARPS (yes I was in a White Wolf LARP, stop giggling at me, I know its Silly!). People would tell me to add some flavor to my characters because they could not tell sometimes when i was being ooc or IC when i wasent talking about Game matters or plot directly. So I dont know if its lazy RP, or not but *shurgs*  When I try to branch out I sometimes get bored with the character, or taxed about trying to react besides how i normaly would.

I have a bit of myself in Nallu and Lona.

Lu may seem like a famous holostar, but she’s often torn between cultures. Her parents didn’t understand why she didn’t enjoy the toys like “Pin the Pelt on the Wookiee”. She deals with stereotypes and people that are afraid of her because she is Trandoshan and because they don’t know her.

She’s concerned about her Basic language because she doesn’t want people to think she’s a dumb lizard. Like Charliee said, write what you know. These are my experiences of coming to America, not speaking a word, learning it, acculturating into society, living with duel ideologies. What’s allowed here is not there and vice versa. I love roleplaying with Issmir because he is the traditional voice that she hates listening to, yet wants to hold onto. Issmir summed it up when he told her, “you let your blood go warm”. Too cold to be a warmblood and too warm to be a coldblood. Then there are the guys like Tor’ryn who understands her and call her “sunshine”.

She has her flaws such as starring in Trandoshan propaganda movies like “Kashyyyk Attacks!”, or “Beauty and the Wookiee”, but generally she treats people with respect and is one of the few Trandoshans that likes Wookiees. Unlike Nallu though, I’m not a tall model. I’m very short in real life and I’m defiantly not a celebrity, and wouldn’t want to be one.

Lona is very much like poLona. I’m not shy, but I’m not as open and friendly as Lu. Lona carries a lot of my mannerisms and mysteries.

In a sence Andi is a extension of my real life personality. We both dislike stupid people with a passion (is my true real life bias...sorry is who I am). We try to be good at what we do and we both help family and friends above everything else. Her actual physical makeup is based of my cousin. Which also makes up the other parts of her IG personallity. It's horrid when we're together as the two of us are unholy terrors. Most of you are safe though...well unless you're in the UK =)

Yeah, Ford is kind of a combination of who I am, and who I want to be. IG Ford is a much stronger leader than I am, although he doesn't show it...probably the same problem I deal with. Only big difference, is I can't have a goatee IRL, lol.

Hmm, there is a lot of my personality in Tamlee. And, maybe a little in Aleshya as well. They have things in common, which is the real me. They're both very loyal and protective of their friends and loved ones. A lot of times they'll hide their true feelings with a different exterior. Tamlee is outgoing and friendly but is in turmoil inside with her failed love affairs and grieving about her parents. There's a lot of me in that. Aleshya covers hers with her brash attitude, flippant remarks and her ego. She's not so much like me in that respect but is modeled after Starbuck. Kah'lan is the mostly silent one. The wise patient teacher. One who observes from the sideline, doesn't care much to be the center of attention but will step forward and help when needed. She too is very loyal to those she lets get close to her, and even shares some of her secrets with her closest friends. Kah'lan is very much like me.

I'm working on another character idea and one who will be much as I would be if I were in a Star Wars universe. I've had those dreams about flying in an X-Wing or in the Millennium Falcon and avoiding TIE fighters. I've often thought about whether or not there is a real galaxy like that out there somewhere and what if they were to come here? What would be my role? Probably the same as my first character in SWG, a smuggler or pilot of some type because ever since I flew in a plane the first time, I loved it. Flying in space with no gravity would be awesome.

Yeah, I'm pretending to be someone I'm not because I'm not some galactic sexy model and dancer. I'd probably break my back if I tried some of those moves. LOL I could maybe do the Alix dance. But, there's a little of me in my characters and people like Silver and Ariel who know me outside of game and who I've known for years would probably see more of me than others. I'm sure they're cracking up at times when I'm roleplaying at some of the things I do and say.

The things that keep me in SWG are the Star Wars-like setting, which I'm a huge fan of and my good friends. Speaking of which, Alix, if you don't get your butt back in game...

Well for those of you that know me OOC on any level you know that Ky is poKy.  I'm too arrogant for my own good and let my mouth get me into situations that make me have to grab 'em and find a way to back up the checks my mouth writes.  We have the same basic build, my hair is black whereas his is lighter, same eyes, same moral code (though he is a known drug runner whereas I shoot bullets and break things).  Ky is a shameless flirt to the point where he is almost as bad as me, only difference is my flirting is harmless and his... well he has no commitments to tie his goofy ass down.

As for Obduro though...  No I don't eat people, no I don't enjoy spending my free time in and around corpses and no I don't have the annoying tongue flickering habit that he does.

People decide on what to play for a variety of reasons. Some play as themselves, some out of of desire for different treatment, or as a result of insecurities. Some play as others simply because they feel like it. Sometimes you don't know what that reason is, nor do you need to. Tamlee nailed it: Whatever the case, respect the decision regardless.

For myself though, I'm with Alix's philosophy: be yourself in a different place and situation.

Behind the desk and inside the screen, I'm roughly the same person with the same values. I see no reason to play, or roleplay, as anything other than myself (except maybe in the case of a "supporting cast," as Zilda and a few others might remember Nagrud and Grandpops Kael :-)).

My baseline persona is still there as it's always been: In pursuit of an honorable and just order that can make the galaxy a good place to live, but understanding when true honor and justice require that order's circumvention; a soldier and defender of that order, but sooner to be a fiercely loyal protector of family and friends; serious, professional, and deadly on the job, but quick to relax and have a good time while away from it. The only thing I think I haven't replicated which I somehow should've is my Christian faith. I guess there's still time, in any case.

Well, I was going to say a few more things, but I've rewritten this about 5 times now, so I'm calling it quits :-p.
