hrm.... Struggling to figure out how to change the character associated with the account, since only a couple of people ever met Kara. But this is Red / Spellfury.

*wave* I realize I kind of vanished a year ago and it's likely no one really remembers any more, but I actually have a bit of time for gaming again and figured I would see what people are up to?

Howdy all. It's Goldshot. Tonight, I'd like to share something special with you. You see, I'm becoming a writer, and I'm working on multiple pieces on different stories. Here's a bit on a fictional war-novel I've finished and holding for publishing:

The winds roared even at the bottom of the valley, the blizzard preventing sight of anything farther than several feet. It was below zero, the pine trees in the valley creating a labyrinth in the icy winds. That anything even living inhabited the frozen wasteland was remarkable, for even Vladimir shivered. But, it was inhabited. By a whole Russian Army Base. It wasn't worth making himself noticed and raising the base's alarms, so Vladimir had to use a silencer on his rifle, and picked up a 9mm pistol which he also silenced. Looking into a thermal scope, he mapped out most of his ex- comrades. He started to write down patrol times and paths. This had went on for a few weeks, and now he was ready to make a move. He was going to infiltrate the base, retrieve the nuclear launch papers, evidence that Russia would fire missiles at their superior’s will.
It would be tightly guarded, and it would likely be harder to escape. But, he couldn't just leave. Not without at least one attempt. He wrapped his rifle in white cloth, as was the rest of him. Vladimir began the descent to the bottom of the valley, slowly moving, and despite the cold, focused on being careful. He put one foot down lightly on the side of the mountain, tested the ground, then put the rest of the pressure on that foot, then looked for another area to place his other foot. The icy wind roared past him, making him pause to keep or regain grip. Around the twentieth repetition of the cycle, the ground gave way under his foot just after he put all of his weight on it, causing Vladimir to tumble down the mountain at a rapid rate. He tried multiple times to catch hold of the mountain again, but was thrown off and soon smacked the ground, groaning.
He lay there for a few minutes, pain wracking his body. It wasn't a some simple impact, his body had become fragile in the snow and ice, his insides becoming as frail as thin glass. Vladimir managed to lift his face through the unbearable pain. He was lucky. He had apparently landed in a pile of snow. He struggled to get up, but after a few moments, he was up, leaning on the stone boulder which he had avoided on the fall. The pain wasn't going to go away time soon, not for days, if not weeks. The most he could do at the moment was to press through it, and take a few painkillers to dull the pain. After a few deep breaths, Vladimir opened his pack, pulled out the bottle of painkillers, and swallowed everything in the container.
Not waiting for the effect, he marched on through the snow to a group of trees and brush, covering him while he looked at the map and time, see what patrols were in the way, and where he was. When he was able to finally calculate these, he felt a sense of dread overcome him. He was right in the middle of a patrols path. One that would arrive in less than a minute. He looked frantically for somewhere to hide. The trees would have covered him from a distance, but up close, he would likely have been spotted.
He sprinted across the clearing, diving into the woods, crouching, pistol hand, in case he was found. He waited. The silence encumbered him, the only true sounds were the wind and the rustling of the wind slipping through the trees. Then, he heard the sound of boots flattening snow, multiple people. He had seen four men on this patrol for the past week, they were usually careless. It was long after he heard them that he saw them, strolling past him. When the last one passed, he let out a sigh of relief, but that relief was short lived, one crying out he found something, a map. A map. Not a map. The map. The map he planned out all the patrols on. He was in terrible trouble now. He had two choices. Shoot the patrol down quickly and quietly, or try to get through the higher security measures to complete the objective. Vladimir thought about the reprecussions. If he let them live, they will likely realize there was someone in the area, and all the patrols would be drastically changed, likely more frequent and on higher alert. If he DID kill them, it would likely be that someone will notice they are missing, and report it. That's not far from them finding the bodies, and the base would be on higher lert, making everything chaotic. Either way, he was in trouble. He watched the patrol, examining it. He made up his mind.
He lined up the shots, everything silent. He exhaled, pulling the trigger. -Click-.... -Click- -Click-.. the patrol turned around, Vladimir now exposed, realized that he didn't load the gun. He cursed, then ran for it, a flurry of bullets whizzing past him. If he was so deadly, so skilled, how didn't he remember to load his sidearm?! He didn't pace himself, he just ran out of plain fear. He stumbled, tumbled and clawed his way through the ice, in no specific direction, just to run. Run away from the doom that was grabing his ankles. The pain from the fall also came creeping back, a ghost whispering in his ear. Your time is up. No more cards to play. He ignored the voice, still running forwards. He watched everything blur past him, going faster than he imagined. Vladimir then was swallowed by darkness. He began to roll, then fall, and finally land, smacking his head on something metallic at a great speed, putting him out cold.

Well, it's only a portion of a chapter, so... GIMME SOME THOUGHTS!
