My daughter was saying zed-bra for a while. I got rid of her learning toy that taught her that and scolded it out of her
Jaggie 5/23/2013 9:19 PM
Nklos, say Zed-bra instead of zebra. :3

There is a nervous air at the Phoenix Tavern.  Twice now the plane of Mabar has spread it's eternal night to Delera's Graveyard.  Stormreach's heroes have risen to the call and driven the undead back, but the announcement by the Twelve that the worst is yet to come has many feeling uneasy.

The band plays on in their little corner, trying to ease some of the tension from the crowd.  And quite a crowd it is.  The Tavern is packed with a number of familiar faces, as well as quite a few new ones seeking the relief of company as night begins to fall over Stormreach.  Cog seems entirely unphased by the large gathering, serving drinks and polishing away at his counter.

Suddenly, the tavern goes darker than the deepest night!  It only lasts a moment, but the buzz of conversation ceases and several of the patrons cry out.  There is a crash from the direction of the side tables.  From the pit someone begins to sob loudly.

After only a heartbeat the Tavern's lighting burns away the unnatural darkness.  Most of the patrons seem to be milling around in confusion.  Cog surveys the tavern as he polishes his counter.

An elderly Human lies face down on the floor near the side tables.  His long white unkept hair spills around him.  Were it not for his elaborate crimson robes of fine silk he could easily be confused for a beggar.  After a moment he begins to set up and shakes his head, as if disoriented.  A large bruise is already starting to raise on his forehead.

The old man slowly looks around the Tavern, seemingly in a daze.

((I'm still feeling my way with Miacch ('Mike'), he's definitely a work in progress!  But I figure starting to RP with him is one way to get a better idea of his character and personality whilst I iron out the details...))

In the sudden darkness, the soft hiss of steel being drawn in readiness sounds louder than it should.

When light returns, a burly dark-haired human stands alert near the bar with a shining longsword in one hand and a haze of divine energy shimmering around the other.  He quickly surveys the scene, a flick of his fingers dispersing the unneeded magic as he sheathes his blade and hurries across to the old man.

"Are you all right there, sir?"  Miacch's concerned voice is an unexpectedly soft and pleasant country burr that contrasts with his dark and battle-hardened appearance.  Crouching near the stranger to help him sit up, he looks the man over carefully and notes the bruise on his head.  "Looks like you took a wee bit of a tumble... would you like me to check you over?"

((His accent, by the way, is Southern Irish.  )

The aged man mumbles something too softly to hear, then shakes his head and comes out of his daze.  He looks at the man offering assistance and smiles.

"Yes... yes, quite a tumble I am afraid."  He touches his head and winces.  "Oh, curse these old bones!".  He stretches an arm out for assistance.  "I apreciate the offer."

After making it to his feet he sways slightly, then smiles.  "Thank you.  It is good to see such kindness from strangers.  Please, if you could help me to the chair?"

The elderly Human takes a moment to look around the room, as if taking in all of the people there.

Miacch takes the old man's arm and helps him to his feet, guiding him to the nearest chair and carefully settling him into it with a nod of acknowledgement for his gratitude.  "It's no problem, sir."  He follows the man's gaze, scanning the area briefly before returning his attention to his 'patient'.

"There you go now... let's take a look at you."  Midnight-dark eyes study the older human carefully, taking note of his condition as Miacch applies a little healing magic and prepares to add more if it should appear needed.

The elderly man runs his hands through his unwashed hair, trying to get it under control.  Upon closer examination grime and stains spot his clothing and skin, as though it has been some time since he has cleaned himself.  His fine robes bear the wrinkles of having been worn for too long.  Aside from the wound that was on his forehead he seems to be in sound physical shape.

The old man smiles kindly.  "It is always reassuring to find such helpful people when exploring a new place.  Travelers are not welcome in many lands.  Given the difficulty I had in getting here, I am very pleased to meet someone as kind as you."

"But I have forgotten my manners."  The man makes an oddly formal seated bow, lowering his chin to his chest.  "I am Miroc."

((Not sure where this story will go, so not sure who I am going to throw in to it, so I have been quite thus far.  But I am bored and I have sneaked out of the office.  So Bel will do for now.  Also seeing that the two characters so far mentioned are not really established in RP, not sure how to treat them yet.))

A tall human sat in a corner, singing loudly and enthusiastically to the songs the band in the back were playing.  His words coming out distorted as a cigar was clamped tightly in his teeth.  Writing in a script that a House Sivis initiate would not have been ashamed to call his own the man wrote on thick sheets of velum.  And drew disturbingly detailed pictures of beholders.

When the lights went out Belashyra paused for a moment in mid illustration and ruined the eye of a beast.  He swore.

As the moment passed the world quickly came back to the light, the susurruss returned and Bel opened his mouth to begin belting out his song again as he spotted two, familiar faces to him.  He could not place if he had seen them in the guild hall, or just around the town.  Quietly he watched them trying to place their faces.

Miacch returns the old man's bow a bit stiffly, as though unused to that type of formality.  "Miacch," he states, the name sounding very much like 'Mike' in his accent.  "It's my... calling... to help those that need it, you might say."  The unspoken implication is that his assistance is given more as a matter of duty rather than kindness, although his tone suggests otherwise.

He looks Miroc over again appraisingly.  "You look like you've been on the road a while there, sir... this tavern is as good a place as any to rest, they at least have clean rooms and decent food.  Will you be needing any more healing, or do you feel well enough now?  Can I maybe fetch you something to eat?"

Bel gets up and stretches his leg, seeing that he did not need to intervene on the situation he gets up and stretches his legs.  Walking by the two strangers he tires to eye the work the man preformed as he went to speak to Cog.  "I seem to have forgotten my scissors Cog, and chance you have a set behind the bar I could use to trim my yarn.  I think I have almost completed this garment."
