"MY elf is a master of all the arcane and he shoots lightning out of his fingers."
"Really? Cool. How old is he?"
"Right..... sure..... I'm gonna go over there now."*exit scene right*
Maybe your the 15year old elven arcane master. Maybe your the person that wasn't impressed with the idea that this spell slinger is not even a third your age. Maybe if the young wipper snapper mentioned that they where possessed at infancy by a unknown source that imbued him with all this awesome power but thanks to his parents/grandma's/vigilant teacher they where able to keep it in check, or.. not in check. Maybe you'd have been more open to the idea of such a young spell caster, if you knew or thought up such things, and less likely to get the smell of burnt hair coming from the back of your head.
Well, if you can't think of a good reason for your guy being super at age negative eleven here is a little note to help you age your character appropriately so you can avoid all that pesky thinking up reasons for being awesome so young and think up new reasons of why you are awesome while waving your cane angrily at the neighbors snot nosed kids. Your Guide to Basic Age of Maturity and When You Are Gonna Die.
~A guide by Jaggie Jutebox Humans
Humans have a short life span, achieving maturity at about 15 and rarely living even a single century. Elves
Physically mature by the age of 25 and emotionally mature at around 125, elves can live to be over 700 years old while remaining physically youthful. They rarely die due to the wear of age. Dwarves
Although they reach physical maturity at roughly the same age of humans, dwarves age more slowly and remain vigorous well past 150 years of age, often living to see 200. Gnomes
Gnomes reach adulthood at about the age of 40. They live to about 350 years, though some can live almost to 500. Half-elves/Half-humans
Maturity at age 20 and can live to be over 180 years old. Half-orcs
Half-orcs mature a little faster than humans and age noticeably faster. Few half-orcs live longer then 75 years. Halflings
Haflings mature in their early 20's and generally live to 250+ Warforged
(3.5e and the interwebs)
Unlike the other races Warforged are....different. The come out of the creation forge already aware and at their full size. Normally it only takes a few months to fully train a warforged in what ever task it has been made to do. They do not age as the other races do, and it is not known what effects time will have on them, although it is stipulated that, like all living creatures, their bodies must experience degradation over time.
The oldest warforged made my Cannith are roughly 35-37 years old though the ancient warforged discovered in Xen'drik, made by giants/quori, where made roughly 41,000 years ago. Wither or not some of this ancient warforged have survived till modern day... *shrug*you can decide.
Middle age for a warforged is considered to be 150 years of age though no other information has been given. Changeling
Changeling have simular life spans as humans do. Maturity at about fifteen years of age and living for about 75-90 years. Shifter
Shifters live about as long as humans. Kalashtar
Yet again, see human.
