Order of the Sword & Rose
*Xandius chuckles lightly while partaking of some food*
“Oheehee, this Lady Draggy you speak of reminds me of Eopia. I call her Caterpillar. Now I know strong emotion when I see it, and you seem to be quite smitten with this lady. I have some wisdom with regards to the fairer sex. If you need advice, it is fortunate indeed that we have met. Have you begun to court her? Or should I ask first if she is aware of your intentions, yes?”
*Xandius dunks some bread in the soup and takes a hearty bite. He chews slowly, giving the ships cook a smile and gesture of approval. Xandius notes the tension in the cook and becomes concerned that she is having second thoughts about letting the elf not become part of some culinary masterpiece. Xandius mentally prepares himself, should the need to prevent the elf from becoming the next meal, arises.*
(I apologize that my absence has caused this thread to languish. I have been dealing with some issues outside of the guild and finally got my old job back. I should be able to be more involved now so back to the story…)
In the Fellowship Hall…
The man looks at Teldyn and Aurelueithil. “I know that there are strange forces at work in his life and I want no further to do with them. Now that he is gone again, I will break my bond and leave to make my fortune, my way... and the devils take all elves.” He realizes too late to whom he is speaking. “Present company excluded of course.”
Back aboard ship…
Points waits until all are gathered again and motions people into the doorway. “Through this doorway are some of your quarters. Vali, Tyrael and I are in the first room on the left. Please come to me if you have any problems. Also respect everyone’s privacy...” An annoyed expression crosses his face. “Showing up unannounced in someone’s room is likely to get you stabbed. Take the Stairway up, please. First landing…”
As people go up the spiral staircase they can notice the nicely inlaid and delicate woodwork. This stairway is wide enough for two people to walk side by side and still pass a third. It appears to be the main up/down passageway and the padded steps although not carpeted do give a little with each step. Comfort, spaciousness and beauty were obviously main design points when building this ship. If someone were to scrape the woodwork with a scabbard they might note that the wood doesn’t show any scratch.
At the first landing, the stairway continues upward but the landing opens on to a large room. Tables are set at comfortable distances and covered with clean white tablecloths. In the center of each table sits a centerpiece decoration depicting creatures of renown, including dragons, giants, beholders and so forth. Each table bears a different centerpiece and each is magnificent in every detail. They are also moving. Some travel in small circles, others fly in place and slowly rotate.
Further into the room another shape can be seen inscribed in the wood floor. It is a Greater Dragonmark. Those familiar with the marks would recognize it right away. It sits before a finely lit and appointed stage. There are provisions for spotlighting and other effects. Movable partitions block the area backstage from view. Velvet curtains drape the stage sides and a few room-wide half steps lead to the performer’s platform.
Points finally arrives up the staircase and enters the room. “This is the dining room and stage. We have some volunteers who will be entertaining us during and after our evening meals. When you need something to eat or a glass filled, simply talk into the centerpiece. It will let you know that it heard you and someone will bring it to your table.”
Looking about at his friends, “I hope that we will have some entertaining times in this room. If any of you are hungry you can stop here now. We will head upstairs to the tavern and be back to pick you up on our way below. For the rest of you, upstairs and let me buy you a drink.” His smile is precisely a smidgen shy of being too large but it makes you uncomfortable all the same.
