Might need some step by step instructions heheh but here goes anyway.  Hope someone can help me.  It would be appreciated.

I am trying to add an XML feed into my guildportal website.  I have paid for the site to do this and it still wont work.

I am trying to use the following XML feed and need help to do so please...
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/includes/guilds/guildsRosterXML.vm?guildId=111669149787

I am getting this from a link here
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/guildsProfiles.vm?guildId=111669149787

My guild portal website and the page I am trying to link this on is at
http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=145816&TabID=1275487

Thanks in advance anyone.

I think because the file doesn't end with .xml, GP.com is not seeing it as a true-well-formed xml file.

Only way to test that is to make a dummy xml file (try saving the output of that file as a .xml file) and host it somewhere, if that works then you know it's what I've said is correct.

Any other ideas ??   Sony and Vanguard confirm that theirs is a true XML feed but its all dutch to me so help in getting ti working would be a boost.  Its the reason I went for Guild Portal in the 1st place TBH to get these in game things linked.

Have I made a mistake and should be looking elsewhere before I spend more money here ?

Double check you're entering the right URLs, then try sending a support ticket in. Hopefully you'll get a fix, or someone to help sort it out

Yeah if you view source on that page, you'll see it's not actually XML.  It's HTML encoded, which makes it look like XML to you and me, but to an XML parser, it's Greek.

If yours was the ticket I replied to a bit ago, really the only thing to do is to ask them to provide a non-HTML encoded, standard XML file, according to the XML specification.  Not being picky here -- it's really something that can be done one way only, and they way they're doing it isn't the way.

I am working on something similar.  I am using the xml/xsl transform function.  I am not too familiar with xsl, I am trying to add a search function to this, and this is very basic.  Just copy and paste what is below into notepad,  save a a utf-8 under encoding, and *.xsl under file name where * is the name you want it to be.  Upload it to a webserver or just paste below into the box for xsl in options.  This will get you a very, very basic guild roster.  And any help in getting a search function to this script would be very helpful.

*add <  to the beginning of every line below the header, couldn't get the post to save with them on.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Ack, sorry for the spam.  I re-read the original post, and it seems that Vanguard had a faulty xml feed to begin with.  On other forums they have assured that they have fixed it, and should work now.  I have it working at least on a basic level with the above script.

Fingers of Fury!

I'm trying to do something similar for a custom roster page for my CoH Supergroup.  Some of our members have registered at CGT so we can get this XML listing of our people:

http://www.citygametracker.com/api/PublicMethods.asmx/ListBySupergroup?server=Infinity&sgname=Shadow%20Syndicate

I'm a techie, but a hardware guy, so my programming knowledge is pretty much limited to Perl and C.  I tried to make a few changes to what Im'dai posted above, but when I add it to the XSL box I get the "Either the XML or XSL Sources (or both) provided for this content are invalid" message.  Without knowing what the problem is, I'm not sure how to proceed.

If someone could help me out with even something really simple that would display correctly, and let me see which of my changes is breaking stuff, I'd really appreciate the assistance.
