We have had a lot of regulars to our site complaining that they cannot view any new forum posts.  Here are the strange details:

-Only if they are using Internet Explorer (Switching to Firefox solves everything).

-Only after on particular forums user has posted.  He's an officer and a regular poster, and has used the forums with no issue for more than a year.  We know of no recent change to his account or signature (at least so far - still under investigation).

Help?  I put in  a ticket but thought this might be useful to some.  Not sure if I can link any forums that are public that have this issues.

This is an issue that i've not encountered in my several years using GP however i've wondered if something like this could happen and therefore taken some thoughts on this in case it ever came up with my members also.

I have only found a few possibilities however but here they are:

1: Is the post set up with a password?

2: Make sure the member has access to the forum group the post is under (had this one happen once and it took me forever to figure out what happened)

3: Check your site activities log and make sure that noone "pruned" that specific forum. This one can happen from time to time on accident or maliciously if there is a feud between members where one or both have site rights.

That's all i can think of that might be of any use in the situation. Hope you can find the answer in one of those, if not, sorry i couldn't be of more help.

Here's hoping you find a solution to the problem.

If switching browsers fixes the issue, then IE is probably just loading the pages from Cache. If his internet connection is flaky, and IE is configured so, it will pull up the cached version of a page when it thinks it is off line. I am not familiar enough with the latest version of IE's configuration (it's been like 8 years since I've done tech support), but I would expect the problem to be corrected by:

1) Holding Ctrl and pressing F5. Ctrl-F5 is a forced refresh, instead of reloading the page from cache (as F5 alone will do), Ctrl-F5 will force the browser to re-download the HTML and all content.
2) Clearing the Cache. It could also be that the Cache is just being screwy. Go into IE's settings and look for an option to clear the cache.
3) Investigate the configuration for loading from Cache options.
