Mail Notification v6
by Mottie
Description
This mod opens a popup to notify you if you have a new mail message. It was written for users who wish to hide their top menu bar (state bar/log in bar). Or if you just want a bigger message telling you that you have mail. I've set it up to open either a growl window (timed popup) or a facebox (popup you have to close).
For more information on the custom variables, please see
this post
.
To style the growl window (pictured above), use the "Growl Window Styling" Mod or refer to
this post
.
To style the Facebox popup window, please refer to
this post

Signup Status Color v5
by Mottie
Description
This mod will add CSS classes to the character status, so you can set the color yourself with the CSS and the script will do the rest. Within the script, you can set it to just color the Status column or the entire row. This is what it will look like:
*Note: this is an old screenshot, but the code still works

Getting Started!
Okay. I need help. I've done a few guild websites on here, but they were not as advanced as I'd like them to have been. And I am rather new at this. Okay. Very new at this. None of them were that good.
Now I'm working on another.
I will explain what I want:
1. I would like each class forum to have it's own look to the page, like, the druid forum would have leaves and etc,the mage would have ice and fire, etc.
2. I want to be able to put youtube videos on the main page. [how do I do that?]
3. I want my content tables to have little designs around the edges.
4. I want to have a realm status thing on the side.
5. I want an animated banner for the page [how do I make one?]
6. I want to have a welcome page [like, you click "enter" and it takes you in to the actual guild site].
7. I want to have music on the pages.
8. I want icons for each little navigation tab [like roster, mail, home, etc].
9. I want an animated background to the pages.
10. I would like to have my content tables all together in one long thing..like the tan part on
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml
and I would like it to look like that, the content boxes. Just you know, all together, not thrown around.
11. Since we are going with the blue, icy theme (because the expansion is coming up,and it's got that icy theme) I would like the ends of my content tables to look like icicles are hanging off of them... like
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/
Any help??
Pleaseeee? is ANY of this even possible??

Check out my test site (link in my sig) for instructions on most of what you want.
Then check out
Cruentus' site
for a very nice icy theme

He has 2 parts to his sig. The middle takes you to WoWhead for a tooltip thing-a-ma-bop. On the right you'll see a link that says "Test Site"... that's what he wants you to click

Click on the words Test site to the far right of the sig, at least on my screen they are way over there.
As far as an icy theme, what I've been doing for the Cruentus Site is opening the Wrath of the Lich King website and picking some pictures I like and modding htem for my nefarious purposes. There is no direct download of the Cruentus theme, it was linked for inspiration.
I'd say your list is extremely challenging. I am also a newb so I feel your pain. But, start simple. First I picked a default theme, then I recolored it. I picked a white drake and basically picked up colors from it and the ice scene that I got from the Wrath website. I went into the GP controls for color and started turning things bright pink, one at a time. That way, I knew what I Was changing

I wish there was a program that would let you make stuff and then it would give you the CSS code, like a MySpace Layout Generator. This is sooooo confusing!

Site theme:
If you have no clue about CSS, try using the built in editor.
Pick a template that is close to what you want.
Then, modify the colors with the editor. It should let you do just about everything. Most of the sites here on GuildPortal use only the built in editor. Adding a custom stylesheet will allow you more flexibility but it isn't always necessary.
You can use
this post
to reference which class elements you can change in GuildPortal, thereare a bunch more ID elements which you can modify with custom CSS, but I haven't taken the time to add those=(.
If you need help with a color scheme:
Learn the basics about color matching
here
.
Then try out a
color matching
site. Pick a main color and it'll give you a bunch of matching colors... it's very cool!
Custom CSS:
If you want to try your hand at adding custom CSS and don't know where to start, read through
this tutorial
.
Then, read through
this post
about adding CSS to your GuildPortal site.
