I've written a song that I want to have play on my guilds website, but the problem is I can't figure out what website I should use. I figured it would have to be a photobucket-esque website for music, but I can't seem to find one. Uploaded the file to acidmusic (you can here it here: http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=1144515&t=3819) but, that URL doesn't work for uploading music.

...so, what website should I be using?

Try this link - http://www.acidplanet.com/components/embedfile.asp?asset=1144515&T=2041

That site should work, you just needed to click "Play song" and then copy the link to that link. I'll test it real quick.

*EDIT* Nevermind. That didn't work. Not sure what sites will work for that. You can convert it to a MP3 file and upload it directly to your file manager on GP if you have a paid site.

What you are dealing with is alot of those web sites dont allow external links. Which what you are trying to do. Reason for this is that draws on web site band width , without having to actually be there.

Just did a quick search ,read this article that should help point you in the right direction.

Just to point out alot of the guild websites on here, have paid to have web storage. So the actually song is stored on the actual web site. So they dont have to use external link.

Actually, GuildPortal only gives you 5Mb of storage on a paid site. Most songs are larger so you'll have to find an external site to host your music.

So you have two choices:
  1. I'd recommend this one: Use playlist.com (or some other flash player site like it). Select from the music there that is already hosted on the internet. You'll have to embed the player on your page.

  2. Find a hosting site to hold your files. I can think of three free ones off the top of my head. The only problem is their free services do have bandwidth limitations and space limitations (but you get more than 5 Mb)
  • Ripway.com
  • Awardspace.com
  • Geocities.com
You could also just pay for a hosting service and get a lot more benefits.

Alright, thanks for the help everyone. I'll try these sights and see if I can get it to work.
