that would make sense for clans that ONLY play fps games.  but we dont.  we play everything.  albeit, we barely use our website (ok nobody in my clan really cares) as we communicate mostly via our ventrilo server, but we play both, we have players in daoc, ao, swg, planetside, ut, america's army, and counterstrike: source.  If we had this feature, i know that i would be able to attract more people to my guild.  Id really like to get a web community rolling here for my clan, and yes, i do see this as something thats kind of roadblocking that effort.

What Zenbiont said... Glastonbury (that directs you to our general portal site) has many games it belongs to, at present in DAOC, Planetside, SWG, City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, and a Pen and Paper site (we post our DnD games).

My biggest concersn is financing - for a while I was supporting probably half of these sites, and now I'm having to pare them down as I can no longer afford it.  I'd like to see some sort of bulk rate if we are going to continue to use separate GP links, or a way of consolodating all the guilds into one without losing any of the posted info/stories etc...

och, my brain is fried, been up for 48 hrs... will actually try and think later and come back

Actually if everyone's amenable to it, some kind of group rate would certainly be possible.  That way, each of your sites *can* have their own unique look, forums, and anything else.  Using the alliance features, you could still have your shared forums that some or all of the guilds could see.  Thoughts on that?  IMHO, it beats having drop-downs all over the place for your members to select which “view” of the data they want for the different content types.

We're ok with the current forums, aside from adding a Spellchecker function! We just add categories for the game name. Easy.

It'd be nice for the Admins to select a category for the News submissions and then the users given the ability to select a News default category(s) to display.

The hardest to implement... I hurt my brain trying to make suggestions here. My biggest concern here is when we select “Special Interest (None)“ we aren't able to edit character data to the fullest like single game guilds are. We should be able to implement any game data (skills, class, level, etc..) into our characters or that feature is useless except for a generic Roster listing.

Again, how about being able to toggle which game the event is for? Then being able to set your defaults to display that way?

Multiple Styles
We use a One-Style-Fits-All format. Works for us because we're one guild/clan. No change needed here.

Selection Process.
I think there should be an Admin setting for “Guildwide“ & Game Selection. When the Admin chooses Guildwide, everyone sees the content no matter what they may choose. The second setting for Game Selection is when an Admin selects a Game, only users who have chosen to see that games news, sees it. (The option to see that information is in Characters/Prefferances) A user should also be able to select multiple games.

Wow, so many great ideas!

Emerald Dragons is also moving into the multi-game arena.  I actually did that months ago with City of Heroes and had an absolutely horrible time.  I ended up giving up on having any web content for the CoH guild.

However, I am hoping to start a division of ED in Worlds of Warcraft, and I would like to be able to keep the members who are in Dark Age, and those who are in WoW, in contact.  The webpage is the best way.

For me, the #1 things that would HAVE to be flexible would be The News, The Forums, and the Event Calendar

For the News, I would like the ability to have a news posting show up for just WoW (say if something important happened in that game), for just DAoC (again, if something important happened that only affected DAoC players), or for both (just recently we had a member die.  Being a Dragon, that news should be seen by all Dragons, no matter what game they are playing).

With the Forums, I love the folding forums example that was linked in an earlier post.  That would still allow me to have the forums all split up the way I like, but without having a page that scrolls forever.

For the Event calendar, it needs to be much like how I described the News.  Events for WoW show up WoW only, Events for DAoC show up DAoC only, and Events that span the whole guild, such as RL Get togethers, show up on both.

If these 3 things could be implemented, then the other stuff could come as they get done.

I think the “gateway“ idea that was mentioned earlier was a good idea, and I would not be adverse to using it.  That, or the single-site system would probably be my choices.

Something else I'd like to see.  I'd like the ability to modify the Alliance box.

Currently my guild runs an Alliance in Dark Age of Camelot.  I'd like to be able to have those GP sites listed in such a way that they aren't confused with the guilds who are just friends with Emerald Dragons, or the guilds who are extensions of Emerald Dragons.

Just a little pet peeve of mine though   Especially since I don't have the XML/XSL experience it seems a good portion of people have.  I totally rely on the content items that you provide.

Edit: I forgot to add that if we went with 1 site for multi-guilds, then we need to have a way to pick the access level per game. So I can have a level 3 accessed forum for WoW, and one for DAoC, but the DAoC people can't see the WoW one and vice versa.

Don't need new access ranks, just need to have the game tied to the rank and the forum.

OHHH and can you make it so that we can use more than one image set for the forums? So my DAoC forums could use the same icons for the forums to show ones that have no new posts and ones that do.  And my WoW forums could use a different set of icons.
