Hello All

Been playing EQ for over 2 years now.
I have recently become the "webmaster" for our GP website. I have beenan officer and "leader" in our guild since it's creation nearly 2 yearsago.

I may be in the wrong forum here, not really sure.

The whole "raid point" section of GP is problematic at best and a disaster at worst.

I have been using a program called RMT - Raid Management Tool.
It works VERY WELL in Everquest. The program tracks raid points foreveryone who is on your raid, or who has ever been on a raid youmanaged with this program. The sweet thing about it is, it spits outall the data in an XML file. You can also use the program to importyour whole guild via the "guild dump" feature in EQ.

I would LOVE to see GP write support for XML uploading into their site.This would SO simplify raid point standings. As it is now, it's veryinefficient and leaves the webmaster/officers totally at the mercy ofthe members remembering to "sign-up" for a raid. Even if everyone inyour guild remembers to sign-up, GP has no idea whether or not everyonestayed, came late, was penalized points, or anything else. All thesevariables are handled in real-time in game with RMT. After the raid,you just export the raid in XML.

I have in the past considered building my own guild hosting site usingPHP/MySQL. To be honest, I just haven't had the time to do this...

IF Guildportal would include support for XML updating of raid points,you guys would come pretty close to removing the desire for me tobecome a competitor. This is not a threat. lol
I do not have the time to work on this project, and don't see being able to for quite some time.

But... support for XML file uploading would really improve your site.

Just my 2 cents. 8)

Guildportal does support XML, although you need to host the XML file elsewhere. Hopefully after researching guildportal's xml support you'll find that it meets your needs and stick around, because to throw away everything GP has to offer just to have better integration of one xml file would be a tragic waste, in my very humble opinion.

Raid point feature is potentially going to make things alot easier forme once my guild starts raiding.. but I am cringing at the thought ofhaving to manually compare my chat logs to a bunch of checkboxes on theattendance page. I would really like to see a way to input attendancethat cross-checks against current members of the guild. I.e., 1) I cutand paste my chat log output list of names of people in the raid, intoa text field for attendance.  2) when i submit it checks each lineagainst the member listing and if there is a match it adds them to theattendance. if there is no match it ignores them.

I'd also like to see some more robust statistics tracking, for examplecontent boxes for "Top RP leaders", "Latest items awarded". Those kindof stats are fun and promote activity.

Also could you make it easier to browse drops listings, drop awards? Isthere a way to get a menu that will show all loot dropped and who gotit without having to go to the specific event? Perhaps a small eventsbox with one-line condensed versions of the raid and the drops called"Raid Summary Listing".

Just noticed the "Maps" link for some of the maps don't work as well.

I'm hearby ressurecting this thread, as I have a couple ideas.

As others have said, this content type could use a little loving.  It's pretty useful in it's current state, but with a couple improvements, it would be the envy of the known universe.

Specifically, a couple more columns:

1)  Points spent
2)  Total points earned

I'm not exactly sure how the code for these columns works, so I'll try to give as much info as I can.  The thought occurred to me that adding these two columns might be more problematic than simple minded fools making suggestions, such as myself, might comprehend.  The problem I'm thinking of is how raid points are assigned and subsequently spent.

Current Version:
Member A earns a raid point, Officer goes to Member A's profile and adds a raid point to his total.  When the member spends raid points, then the officer just goes to the same place and subtracts from the total.

Proposed Version:
You'd somehow have to overcome the fact that in the current state of the CP editor there's no way to track the subtraction of points.  Now I know I've said many times that I'm retarded when it comes to these things, so if this is just plain impossible, I'll take my gruel and shut up. 

What I'm thinking is having a way to click a button in the CP profile for individual members, the one that comes up when I click on their names.  You might have three buttons to add (or earn) 10, 5, and 1 raid points, and the same for subtracting (or spending).  This way you would have a way of knowing what's going in and going out, then use that data to make the two new columns.

3) Items Won Column

Now that there is access to all the awesome XML that is in Allakhazam, wouldn't it be awesome if I could past a link to the XML for an item that a member won via raid points into a members CP profile that would show up in the raid points content type column or perhaps the roster content type?

Aaron do you think the DKP section of GP may be updated sometime in the future?

As I have worked with it there have been some quirks that an experienced user can work around but anyone else can really mess things up.

The example above is good. If someone in the guild is in charge of DKP it would be nice if they could manually edit or alter a users DKP without having SA access.

Also it would be great to be able to go back  and edit DKP for an event. I have tried this before and once saved the DKP is submitted twice and all users end up with double the DKP for the event.

If you click through the DKP submission page once values have been added, you risk scoring double points.

It would also be nice to track before and after totals of DKP on the users pages. Especially when manual edits have been made and why.

More feedback on the different DKP admin pages would be helpful. For example numbering the list of names on the attendance page. Maybe even a total number of those marked as attending. Things like that.

Overall I like the DKP function and how it is tied into the website, signups and calendar.

We use a zero-sum dkp, which means the value of the item gets distributed over the people present the moment it dropped.

Also, since raids take several hours some people change during the raid. Meaning someone present at the first drop,  wasnt present at the 2nd dropped item.

So I would like to be able to enter the dropped items with value and which members were present at the moment each of them dropped.

Any chance you guys are even considering implementing something like this? (I know zero-sum isnt the most common dkp implementation)

I'd like to see a way to track raid attendance not by % they signed upfor but instead by % of raids that were scheduled and attended.

Also we'd need a way to say "I want to count back such and such amount of days"

That way I can see how many raids were scheduled in the past 60 or 30days and how many they attended and get a true attendance ratio.
