Hey, Wiltan!OK, I know i was sposed to work on a banner for you, but stuff kinda happened. I've had to move, gotten a couple viruses, and been mostly bed-ridden for a while, but I'm back!Anywho, I just wanted to tell you I think you've done some awesome work. Now that I'm back, I'm going to have to spend quite a bit of time catching up with all the updates and figuring out how to implement some stuff on my site and the stuff you've done looks like it will be really helpful. I'll let you know how it goes!

Hey Ry! Nice to hear from you; I hope you're feeling much better (if not now, then soon). Thanks for the compliments, and welcome back!/em is still mesmerized by Ryala's animated graphic.

Absolutely adore the Needs List. Thank you for sharing it here. If I am successful at convincing my guild to move to Guild Portal I will be trying to implement it

When that time comes, let me know how you do. I'd love to have an idea of who else is using it. (I know of a few guilds that are using it so far.)

name="2764520">

Decided to play with it now after all!

I'm hoping someone can help with a few questions. Don't want to pester Wiltan too much!

1. When setting up the XML/XSL Transformation Editor box, are these the correct files to use?

XML URL: http://www.myhost.com/needsxml.php
XSL URL: http://www.myhost.com/needsxsl.xsl

2. When trying to add a task, is it supposed to autopopulate the member's name in the Your Main Character's Name field? It is blank for me and I cannot enter anything manually. Another issue came up when I was trying to edit a task and got the message that only officers can edit the task, that makes me wonder if the code can handle usernames such as mine:

-Cherish-

Can it handle non letter characters? Could that be the problem I am encountering here?

I think I've gone through all the code and made the necessary substitutes for db name, db username, db password, urls, officers, etc.

Thanks!

1. Those are the right files, yes.

2. Yes, it is supposed to autopopulate the name. It should be pulling that in from which user is currently logged in. Not sure why it's not working on your site; at a glance everything on your site looks like it would be there for the Javascript to get that information.

Can you link me to your needs list page so I can take a look?

I just checked it out and it worked for me. /shrug

I didn't anticipate a white background - you'll need to find the 'COMPLETED' in the .xsl and change that font color. It's at about line 108 in the file (unless you added or removed lines when editing).

I was able to delete the “sample task” you created. It's one of a few things. #1 - my name is still in the list of officers allowed to delete tasks (deletetask.php, line 26 or so), #2 - because there was no name there originally, it let me get away with it (possible), or #3 - there's a security hole in there somewhere. /shrug - never said I was a great programmer.

It's possible that it IS the hyphens in your name; I'm checking the code now and it doesn't look like that would be a problem. /shrug

Added EQ Server Status XML content box to our news page. (See the Everquest forum in this community for the XML/XSL paths I'm providing.)

Does the below message meant that my cheesy home cable provided website wont play fair with me and allow me to use the XML/PHP setup?

The XML page cannot be displayed

Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
