Mail Notification v6
by Mottie
Description
This mod opens a popup to notify you if you have a new mail message. It was written for users who wish to hide their top menu bar (state bar/log in bar). Or if you just want a bigger message telling you that you have mail. I've set it up to open either a growl window (timed popup) or a facebox (popup you have to close).
For more information on the custom variables, please see
this post
.
To style the growl window (pictured above), use the "Growl Window Styling" Mod or refer to
this post
.
To style the Facebox popup window, please refer to

This mod will add CSS classes to the character status, so you can set the color yourself with the CSS and the script will do the rest. Within the script, you can set it to just color the Status column or the entire row. This is what it will look like:

Hey guys, I'm on a wide screen monitor and can't tell if my Banner is Centered or if it jacks up the page with a scroll bar at the bottom. can anyone take a look and let me know and about how much smaller it needs to be to fit if out of place. I'm using photoshop 6 and have no clue what i'm doing i'm lucky to have made that image out of the three photos. thanks for the help

Yes, your banner is centered, but there are issues.
1) You banner is HUGE!!! That image alone will take up 1/2 the screen on a 17" monitor.
2) Waaaay to much vertical space before content. You're looking at 600px of vertical space before the start of your content. That appears on every single page. Based on average browser sizes, that means that pretty much everyone is going to have to scroll before seeing any content at all, on every single page.
3) You page is waaaaaay too wide. You're looking at 1100px to get rid of the horizontal scroll bar and 1200px to get the rendering to show up correctly.
I like the scheme and graphics though, so here's my recommendations:
1) resize that banner down to 800x150 or so. The smaller it is, the less scrolling your visitors will have to do. Trim off the lower parts of the background images, raise the guild name up, and work with the font/coloring/effects on the guild name to make it more prominent and easier to read.
2) Stack the two images in your content vertically instead of horizontally, this should fix the problem with the content box not rendering correctly below 1200px wide.
3) Be more consistent with your fonts. Some of the content on the home page is in an anti-aliased font, some isn't (I would recommend sticking with the AA font like the one used in your 2nd news post). There is also inconsistent coloring, italics, underlining, weight, and sizing. Work on getting that text more consistent looking so that the page feels more unified.

thanks for the info, I gotta work on that banner it took me awhile cause i suck with photo shop i guess. I endend up printing out the pictures i wanted and cut and pasted crap together and played with the coloring on my scanner to get them together like like. Have to figure out if i can scale the picture down some more, About did all the croping i can do on the sides.
But I've gotten rid of the pictures cause the topic is old and M$ didn't give us the function anyways. But I'll Remember to stack them next time.
And I'll finish up The Font today and get it right.
Thanks again guys.

One last recommendation. I would trim the boarder images around your banner. These images:
Down to about 200px, that should make them line up with the side content boxes and reduce the width before your scroll bar shows up. Luckily the page is rendering well so that even if the banner forces the scroll bar to appear, the content continues to render on a single page width. This issue appears to be an IE only problem as FF renders the border correctly (or incorrectly, but more visually appealing).
You still have ~600px of space from the top of the page to the top of your content, which is really huge (I try to aim for under 300px). The only way to cut that back is to trim up your banner.
One other little issue, for pages you haven't visited yet, the link color is the same as the background color on the menu tabs. It makes the menu tab turn solid lavender with no legible text if you hover over it with out having visited the page before.

I tired to do what you said but i couldn't figure out the box border images. It was a theme off GP so i endend up just doing my own stuff. I did everything with photo shop except for the box borders cause i still can't figure that crap out. Sooner or later though. But i like the new look now anyways, just need to figure how to make box borders to match my tab buttons. thanks for the help man
