Mail Notification v6
by Mottie
Description
This mod opens a popup to notify you if you have a new mail message. It was written for users who wish to hide their top menu bar (state bar/log in bar). Or if you just want a bigger message telling you that you have mail. I've set it up to open either a growl window (timed popup) or a facebox (popup you have to close).
For more information on the custom variables, please see
this post
.
To style the growl window (pictured above), use the "Growl Window Styling" Mod or refer to
this post
.
To style the Facebox popup window, please refer to

Signup Status Color v5
by Mottie
Description
This mod will add CSS classes to the character status, so you can set the color yourself with the CSS and the script will do the rest. Within the script, you can set it to just color the Status column or the entire row. This is what it will look like:
*Note: this is an old screenshot, but the code still works

IE7 vs Firefox vs Chrome --- Padding and Margin

When using CSS here on GuildPortal, why does Firefox, IE7, and Chrome all handle padding and margins differently? Does GuildPortal have "built-in" padding or margin that must be explicitly overwritten with our CSS? Should I be sprinkling "!important" all over my CSS?
I basically use a bunch of trial-and-error attempts to get my graphics, text, and boxes aligned the way I intend. Of course once I get it the way I like it, the alignment in another browser is completely out of whack. So in I go with another round of trial-and-error.
This surely leads to bad coding results. Is this a common problem with any website design? Or is it worse here at GP? I understand the conceptual differences between padding and margin. (If you don't, a brief explanation is at
htmldog.com
).
Can someone explain how to best use padding and margin in the context of viewing GuildPortal sites with different browsers?
Thanks in advance.

I'm in the process of cleaning up the code that's output by the wireframe and content controls. Eventually the in-line style="" declaration stuff will be gone. In its place, the style sheet that is rendered from settings will contain all of that info, and for custom style sheets, it will only add style rules to maintain the formatting you're used to
if
it detects you haven't specified anything for the rule yourself.

Getting Started!
I have tried many browsers and find the best by far is Mozilla Firefox. It has Less chance of crashes than IE and protects or foretells the user if there is a threat on the site it is being directed to.
