I have been wanting to add box border image to my site since I created it over a year ago.  I never got close to figuring it out till now.

I don't know CSS, and I don't use any kind of script on my site.  Just the GP templates and tons of images.

Right now this the GP tool I'm using to make these box borders:

Control Panel/ Style and Colors/ Custom Icons: Box Border Images

If there is ANYONE out there who has done it this way, could you tell me why my side background images are appearing above and behind my Top Left/ Top Right images?  It seems like they should simply connect. . .
[My side background images are only 1 pixel tall, while my Top *Side* images are 85 pixels tall.]

This is my site:  Lethal Ladies

If you can help me I will love you forever!!

The problem you are having with the tops is because they are GIF's and they are not squared off.  Background images are tiled and since there is no graphic at the very tops, the background is shining through.

If you take your TopLeft/Right graphics and change them to JPG or at least remove the Transparent element from the GIF, you should get the desired result you are looking for.

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much for the reply!

My images are PNG's though, and Photoshop does not give me the option to convert them to JPG.
Your input does help a lot though, what I guess I'll do is square off the tops of those images with black.  I didn't want to do this because I use a background image on my site, and I hate for those black corners to show.

It just seems like I should be able to make it work, but I suppose it's because I'm not smart enough to write my own code.

Its not that you are not smart enough, its because that's how HTML works.

You have an image listed on the left and right sides.  They are aligned to the top.  You also have a tiled image for the left and right side.

The tiled image gets spanned over the entire tag, not just where the other image left off.

Another way to fix this issue so you don't have to mask with black, is try to create a graphic like you did for the Bottom Left/Right for the Top Left/Right.  This will square off the left/right hand graphic and you wont get the overlap.  This might be a little tougher and you might not get the look you are after.

Other than that, you can write custom HTML to do what you want, but like you said, you don't want to get into that.

Anyway, I'm glad I was able to help a little.

PNG's do not render correctly in all browsers - if they're transparent don't use png, use gif. (check internet explorer if you're not sure what I mean - there's huge blocks of white behind your images.)

photoshop 7 (dunno what version you're in) allows for just about any file format you want, you just have to know how to save it correctly.

File>Save for Web>Settings - gif or jpg are both available options. Transparent gifs should work fine I've used several throughout our guild site.
