I'm not sure if this has been brought up before or not, but my guild would love to be able to post threads by character.  As it is, posts are made using the account name.  If a member couldn't get his main character's name as his account name or if they wish to post as an alternate character, they are out of luck.  The World of Warcraft forums support this and I would like to see it implemented on GuildPortal.

Would be hard to do I think, because Guild Portal hosts so many games. I think it would be easier for your guildies to use the Signature feature instead.

This has been requested before (see the threads linked below), but sofar, GuildPortal doesn't support this.  Until this bubbles up tothe top of the feature request list, the best we can do is tocreate multiple GuildPortal user accounts.  I've got 3myself.  It's a pain, but it's the only way to do this, as far as Iknow.

Tracking Raid points by account name is also a little disconcerting. I have an Alliance guild and Horde guild in world of warcraft; and people who created accounts using thier Alliance character name have that name show up in the horde guild raid point system. This causes much confusion and unrest when horde guild members see a non guild member gaining points.

We must select a character for event sign up, so it would be nice to track points by that character. This would also resolve some issues where guilds want the actual character that attended an event to get the points not just have them lump summed to a person.

Maybe some kind of character selection could be set up after login and then all posts to forums, e-mails or sign ups would be attributed to that character until another character is selected. Obviously in the case of mail the message would be sent to the master account but would have the to and from fields displaying characters names.)

I've recently noticed that this is also an issue when dealing with the Guild Bank.  When someone makes a request, they do so using their account name.  This makes it difficult for our banker to determine which character to give the item to.  If one account has several characters, there is no way to know which character actually wants the item.

Yes I agree, here especially if the account name is the name of someone who has left the guild but they still ahve an alt in the guild .. and the bank item is for the alt .. it makes it very confusing for the guild banker to determine if the player can get the item or not

I, too, would very much like to see this implemented.  I'm afraid that I have grown used to this feature on the WoW forums and now feel that I can't do without it!

The reason it does not exist is because, while a person may have one character name on one server in one game, they don't necessarily "own" the name on any other game.  In most cases, they don't own the name on different servers even within the same game (though I think WoW gets around this by listing server along with the poster).

Actually... We might be able to do the same thing, though there's still the issue of people posing as someone else and causing a bunch of support tickets along the lines of "omg someone haxx0red my account!!1! 1!"  We have no way whatsoever to verify who is the real Slim Shadee in EQ2 on the Antonius Buygold server... Any ideas?
