Greetings GP Staff and Guild Leader Admins:

Like many, I am a long time GP subscriber of a few years and with different games.

As I explore the many more new features to customize our sites, first I will say thank you Guildportal, you have provided a great service to us over these years and I am appreciative!!

And then, my only current gripe is.... I would like each tabbed page to play the same music I have loaded onto it, without stopping the the track if the user clicks on things inside that page. I know you know what I'm talking about. This is bugging me the most right now. I want to hear a fluent sound ( that i uploaded) for each "home" section, no matter what the user clicks on. 

The most prominent example: A player has much to say on our forums page. They click on the 'forums' tab. As soon as the forums tab is clicked, a song starts playing. They choose a thread to start chatting on. Doh, the song starts over. They go to read another thread by someone else, and doh, the song starts over yet again.

This is what I dont want to happen. Is there anyway you guys can make it fluent? One song to play non-stop for each tabbed page, and any extra windows a user clicks on will automatically open a new window for chat purposes, while keeping the same song continuously playing while they are chatting inside the same tabbed section?

Please help me. A good example would be to click on this link:
The Old Guard Stories and you will notice how many times the song starts over until you get get to read a story. I dont want the song to start over and over!

p.s... it is especially frustrating on our 'Forum' tab!!  where most people go and click multiple threads for reading different topics! They then have to sit through the start of the same song 10 times over just to read different things. and by the time they want to post something, for some, the same 'sound' of the first song 10 times over has ruined the mood.  TOG Forums

Hello Masota,

The reason why you are hearing your song repeat each time is that every tab, forum, or thread is a link to another page. So each time one is clicked, the page reloads as does the page's musical selection.

You could put in Feature Request for your idea and cross your fingers.


One way for it to be fluent would be to have it as a stand alone player in a separate window. There are some real smart folks here that probably know how to do it, if it doesn't get stopped by a pop-up blocker.

Another way may be to use an Iframe that's separate from GPs content, although I'm not certain if GP allows for them or not. Or for that matter, whether or not it's possible.

Playlist.com has a decent player that you can embed and comes with a button to causes a stand alone player to spawn (takes two clicks). Granted, this is not automatic and requires someone to activate it.

With the system as it is now, the only good sound for the forums page would be a soft, short sound effect for clicking on something, like an hammer striking an anvil, or a pen writing, or something like that. Anything too long or too loud would be repetitious and annoying (to me anyway), plus it extends loading times.

Everdark thanks so much for your suggestions. I like the stand-alone music player idea. I have seen really tiny ones. I wonder what would happen if I embed one for each tabbed section. Wouldnt the song still start over when other links are clicked?

Yes, any time the browser goes to another page, it would have to start over, or shuffle to a new song if set up that way. If a person clicks to make a stand alone player, it will be in it own window and would not be affected by page changes. Of course if you had a new player on each tab, that would defeat that idea.

Another easier way, at least how I do it, is I open up the page with the player and right click on Forums to put it in a new tab letting the first tab play on uninterupted while I browse with the second tab.
