Didn't see a forum for this but thought perhaps would be nice to have a place to talk about WSO and to ask dumb questions.
I've never been afraid to ask things - that's how I learn - so not afraid to start.

1.  Am an explorer and perhaps this is an explorer thing I missed reading.  Going through certain points see image of a little running burning dude.  Seems to give a bonus to run in same direction but not sure what that's all about.
2.  Perhaps it's a Beta thing but a couple of times while leveling up see skills in the level up panel but not in the character panel.  Do certain skills require talking to someone?
3.  Assume there are crafting things to do - do you have to be a certain level to start crafting?  Someone that you need to talk to in order to start?
4.  Challenges - if you fail - is there a way to retry it later or do you have to do it right there and then?

Anyhow that's some of the things this old man is thinking and wondering about.  Overall a very fun game much more playable, fun and less grindy than LOTRO.. Mainly been playing on my main: Zral but have also created Grananator and Jahtalkintome.  Have not committed to purchasing yet but leaning that way.

1. The running man as far as I can figure is a marathon you can run to explore the zone quickly and to help with treasure hunts and such.
2. There IS a trainer bot and you have to pick and choose which skills to slot. It cost money and it can be found in most main hubs.
3. Dunno anything about crafting.
4. Challenges ARE repeatable. If not right away then after a certain period. I failed one, gave up on it, returned the next day and completed it.

There are two things. First, for explorer there are flags with running guys. They give you a 30% run speed ontop of Sprint. Second, there are run speed buffs you can get in towns. They do the same thing, but the explorer ones stack. You pretty much become the Flash.

M.A.C. allows you to buy skills. They go into our ability bars and then you can slot and respec for free. Skills can get expensive. As Loc said, they are in most cities. They are Red looking bots with no legs (kinda like vending machines).

Yes, there is an intro quest. It starts around level 12-14. The 3rd zone in each place has a crafting location. It is VERY different from any other type of crafting. All players are cooks and then you can pick 2 others.

There is a panel called CODEX. It has a thing on it called Achievements. This is basically your OCD Completionist panel. It has EVERYTHING. Challenges if failed can be tried again immediately or if you leave zone and come back you can start them up again from the CODEX panel. As you level, the increase in tiers and so does the loot so you can beat them, really beat them, or sincerely smash them. If you complete it on any tier, you lock it for the day, but you can repeat them all every day.

Oh, I don't know.

I'm just sort of surprised, is all.

I was actually thinking of getting back into LOTRO - I've got some free time and it's, well, free.  Already paid for.  I've got tons of points.  It seems an alien game and now I suppose I don't know anyone who plays it.

Anyway, what has drawn you to Wildstar?  I find it kind of hard to be interested by it.

tl;dr now that I've walked through your door, I guess it's time to get a new door.  Very sorry.

LotRO:
 - No expansion planned for 2 years
 - No raids or instances coming
 - Combat and gameplay system broken
 - Content still bugged
 - Vastly solo oriented game
 - no marketing budget (didn't even go to Pax East and they are in Boston - in fact they Tweeted out to followers to come by a local bar to say hi)
 - Devs not accessible and responses by the staff tend to be defensive and bitter

WSO
- Solid group culture with a dedicated social system dev team
- Meaningful elements that interconnect with each other - group to pvp to craft to housing - few things are isolated or independent systems
 - combat system is fun and addictive
 - break out game play
 - PvP...warplots
 - hard content
 - interesting Lore/story
 - approach to classes and limit action set
 - Devs are fun, interactive, and listen

I'm still  not convinced about the "interesting lore/story part and hope it develops.  At the moment, I cannot log in.  Keep getting cannot log into server. I have double checked my network but have been getting the same error.  I've made no changes as far as my router goes and even verified my ports etc.  All looks good to go.  Just keep getting server error, /.shrugs shoulders
