I am putting this as sticky.

I am taking some time to put this up because we do have new folks, but we also have a lot more raiding going on with the team. There is a Raiding 101 guide here

In light of current discussions around time in raids and time to start raids, I am asking the following be monitored.
  1. The goal is always fun, but naturally since we are investing a lot of time, and many people in that space of time that usually means results that are very beneficial when accomplished.
  2. Be prepared: The Event always say you can sign up if: You MUST have those requirements
  3. Sign up correctly; If you are available, great, but that means you are there on time (with in the 10 min window, try not to use it), that you have all your gear, pots, virtues, consumables and repaired. Don't sign up as available if you know you are not going to be ready to go at the start time. And it's fine to adjust as you near sign up cut off, but please be there present and ready to go if you are available
  4. AFKs - These are viral, meaning when one person goes it starts to trickle. We all have things going on, but if this is needed (as I know some of you have things you have to manage while in raid) then send a tell to the RL to ask. The raid leader will always give a group AFK at the 1/2 mark. Please don't take afks outside of this...it really lengthens the raid time. And come back on time when given the AFK.
  5. Chit Chat - this has become very noticed and interrupting. I want folks to have fun and to not feel robotic, but a) please clear the channel for the raid leader to explain the pulls. We shouldn't have prolonged dialog going on in group while we're ready to do the pull or explain it. b) there should not be chatter during execution. The following folks are key to hear: Raid Leader, Fellow Leaders, DPS target assist, and Healers for calling effects. That's it. I understand we're trying to help everyone, but please keep the explanations light, the descriptives nil. Those 4 folks need to be heard. I have seen this a lot in skraids and am now noticing it in Draigoch and ToO.  Again, I want people to enjoy each other, but the topics of chatter, the length of it and the delays are too much at the moment. Use AFK time to chat and use rez time or RL request time to give feedback.

One follow-on question:  Noticing dispellable effects.
Should someone not filling one of the 4 roles referred to yelp those out if they are the first to observe, or remain quiet to preserve radio silence?

Normally for us its the Healers, and I'll make sure they know they are responsible. If not that, then I'd say raid leader. Im sort of at the pt with this though that if it's a general issue, then its a class trainer feedback to player.

installing buff bars is pretty easy and is hard to ignore when it comes up since it puts the pot in your face to click. Those with effect removal can also be on tap to try to nick it in the bud.

Yeah - GP does weird things sometimes. It just decided to do that, and when i just fixed it to red, it changed all my other text to black. Then I went and made it all white again, and it added a new bullet #1...maybe someday we'lll migrate off GP lol

Right click on the Training Hall tab in the upper banner, click Open in new tab. Under Heralite's stories, click Raiding 101. Enjoy.

Everyone who has been a member for more than a year should update their bookmarks. The new site URL is www.theinklingskin.com. If you go to the site using your old bookmarks the domain is www.guildportal.com and all links that use www.theinklings.com will throw the access Denied error. This is because the cookies that are set when you log in are domain specific and you are trying to access a secure page in a different domain.
