For FFXIV, Yellow Gremlin has a little countdown timer showing when leves will reset. I'd like to add that to my website, but I know absolutely nothing about writing the script, and I haven't been able to find anything to use "off the shelf".

It's simple enough, I'm sure. Countdown 36 hours, reset, countdown 36 hours, etc etc.

Hi Kidariel Silverleaf!

I looked around but there aren't any timers I could find that would do what you want. And I wouldn't know exactly when to start the countdown timer... So, I decided to do the next best thing. I extracted out the script from that site and saved it to a page in my GP files.

With the modified clock page, you have two choices:
  1. Add an Embedded page type widget (this may not be the best option as you can't set the width)

  2. Add a Free Form Text/HTML type widget, then add the following while the editor is in <>HTML mode:

    <iframe width="215" height="190" src="" scrolling="auto" frameborder="0" align="top" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>
The page is set to be transparent. So with that transparency and the iframe "allowtransparency" option, the content should show your site background behind it.

Customizing Colors
  • If you have a site that is lighter in color and the white text is unreadable, then save this file to your computer,
  • Open the file in a plain text editor and modify the CSS at the very bottom of the page.
 /**** Change colors to match your site here ****/
 body { background: transparent; color: #ddd; font-size: 85%; } /* transparent should allow color behind iframe to show through */
 .calendar { background: transparent; color: #ddd; margin-top: 10px; } /* the margin top adds space between the top line and calendar */
 #calendar .title { border-bottom: 1px dotted #333; }
 #calendar .line{ border-bottom: 1px dotted #333; }
 .lunar .label, #calendar .label { color: #bbb; }
  • Once done, save the page then upload it to your site using the File Manager.
  • Copy the URL to that page.
  • Modify the URL of the page in the embedded page/iframe as described at the beginning, but replace the URL in orange.
