Hi Mottie, sorry to bother you again,

Couldn't find any postings on this subject and completely forgot to ask you about it earlier.

We have a content manager/small events list on the home page as a premade gadget from Guildportal. It takes it's data from the ingame WoW Guild Calendar when I synch. Afterwards I can manually change the time and organizer in the website, but as soon as I log into the game the wrong data overrules what I changed. The problem is the time zone (maybe atom clock) that Guildportal uses which is 2 hours off our time zone. Now that we have winter time it differs one hour. The time we have in The Netherlands is the same as the server time of the Aerie Peak realm. Still all our events are shown to start an hour later in the events gadget and I don't have means to change that time definitely. Is there a little script that I can hide on the page that tells that gadget to show the time one hour (or two in summer) earlier? It also states as organizer the one who uses the synch program from Guildportal, in this case me, but I read elsewhere how I can hide that info. Still it would be nice if it would show the right player that organizes the event.

Am I allowed to ask you this or should I take this up with Guildportal?
Promise I won't ask anything for a long time after this ....

Regards,
Enniewan

Hi Enniwan!

I believe the time zone setting is on an individual basis. Click on "Profile" in the top menu, then adjust the "Time Zone" value to match your location. Then the server time shown in the calendar should be relative to your time zone.

Hi Mottie,

I understand you want to make sure that there's petrol in the car, but the correct location time has been set in my profile years ago as GMT +1, Amsterdam and so on. Then we used to use the old Guildportal calendar to subscribe to raids before Blizzard introduced that option ingame, and there was nothing to synchronize, so the mistake is not on my end, I believe. My time is the same as the EU Aerie Peak server time too. The Guildportal event gadget adds time to that, not just for me but for the whole guild.

I found:
Central European Time (CET), used in most of Europe, is one of the names of the time zone that is 1 hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time(UTC), with a time offset of UTC+1 (in winter).
Most European countries have adopted the use of Central European Summer Time (CEST) daylight saving time in summer, with UTC+2.

Blizzard has adopted the use of CEST too, although they sometimes forget to change it in time.

Cheers,
Enniewan

Hi Enniewan!

Hmm ok, the part where I am getting confused is when you state that logging into the game the wrong data overrules what you changed. Where? Do you mean the site calendar messes up? or the in game calendar? or the data from the addon?

Either way, I think this might best be fixed by GuildPortal. The calendar grabs data from the server then processes it. If it's a problem with the addon, then I definitely can't help - I know nothing about its coding.

Hey Mottie,

Sorry that I wrote it in a confusing way. I'll tell you step by step.

First of all I have the Guildportal sync program that automatically does what one used to have to do manually before.
That program checks from time to time whether a site admin that has that program installed has made an /gph update ingame and then log out completely.
So it checks the data in the gphelper.lua in the wtf folder.

When someone makes an event in the ingame calendar that data gets saved in the gphelper.lua. The Guildportal sync program puts that data in the guild site calendar and event box. Because of the different time zones of the WoW servers and the personal time settings in the Guildportal site, there must be a conversion taking place.
That is where it goes wrong.

The time is one hour off and in summer two hours with our time zone. Our time zone is used for the WoW servers in Europe.
So I make ingame a calendar event that will start at 8 PM and on the site it will say it starts at 9 PM or in summer at 10 PM.
(Try setting your personal time to Amsterdam and see our site for yourself, I made a test event ingame with the time in the subject)

As soon as I see that I can edit the times but when I play on Enniewan it will overrule my manual changes again.
So I wondered whether there is a little script that I can hide on the page that deducts an hour and in summer two hours (even if I have to change the number in the script myself).

But maybe I better take this up with Guildportal, don't want to give you too much trouble.
I'm puzzled that I couldn't find more postings about this or maybe not that many people use the site calendar or event box in our region. Or maybe I am to blame after all.

Thanks for answering anyway,

Enniewan

Hi Enniewan!

I don't think it's your fault at all. Submit a support ticket and describe it just like you did in this post. I'm sure they can figure out the problem for you
