I haven't really toyed with websites in a long time, I remember reading countless html coding books thicker than the average dictionary, but now, I'm lost!

First, is it even possible on GP to set up the website as a frame page?

What I am looking to do is stop each tab, such as your options; home, forums, warcraft, mmorpgs, etc, from loading a unique page and instead simply loading the content of said page in a main window or target window, leaving everything exactly the same and not reloading.

I have been looking at websites on GP for several days now and haven't found one that has done it. I can't find anything on GP that says it can be done, or more importantly how.

I imagine that I have to do it through enabling CSS, but before I ever messed with that I wanted to see if it would work.

HI Thaeric!

Yes, it would be possible to have the tabs control loading specific page content, but:
  1. If we use Ajax:
    • The loaded content won't have the associated scripting applied - this would break things like the calendar and a few other widgets.
    • Existing links in the newly loaded content (including inline "onclick" scripting) would open a new page, thus breaking the tab control. Intercepting links inside the loaded content would honestly be a pain in the butt and extend page loading time (slightly).
  2. If we use frames:
    • It may be possible to hide the banner and tab bar inside the frame and only have the page contents loaded, but then external links would open inside the frame.
    •  I haven't tested this, but it could possibly break the forum editor because of all the nested frames.
In short, when I attempted to do this a while back, it didn't work out very well.

Fair enough. Thanks for the reply.

I'll just stick with the standard stuff and focus my efforts on making the background images line up where I want them, which by the way is a pain;)
