The Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) was created to heighten the Emperor’s knowledge of political and militaristic events within his Empire. The Bureau is staffed soley by those loyal to the Empire. Primarily, the ISB is responsible for the internal security of the Empire. Much of the ISB’s functionality however, arises from experienced counter-intelligence agents who attempt to insure that their intelligence is as good, or better than that of the ISB’s rival agency, Imperial Intelligence. The ISB serves more of a enforcement function than does the Ubiqtorate in Intelligence, having a more public presence. Its operatives, especially in Surveillance, will often identify themselves as members of ISB, the intimidation value being worth the loss of secrecy.

ISB Officers monitor and maintain the loyalty of Imperial citizens, in addition to assuring that no hostile intelligence agencies infiltrate the Empire. The ISB also performs duties similar to a police force. The difference to a police force is, however, that the ISB focuses its primary attentions on political rather than civil matters. In short, the ISB upholds Imperial Law within the Empire; it is the Empire's Law Enforcement Agency.

The ISB Central Office is a immense complex located in Imperial City, Coruscant, that handles all of the communications and coordination tasks for the entirety of the ISB. The Commission of Operations transmits assignments through the Central Office directly to the Sector Offices. The ISB’s branches include: Surveillance, Investigations, Internal Affairs, Interrogation, Re-Education, and Enforcement. All communication between sector offices and otherwise is held directly through the Central Office.

As the Empire spans galaxy wide, no sentient being is free from the ISB’s administration of Imperial Law. The ISB is everywhere. We see and know everything. Any disloyalty to the Emperor and His Empire will be punished severely. OBEY THE LAWS OF THE EMPIRE and you have nothing to fear.
