1. NEW MEMBER GUIDE.
1A. How to get started.
The primary goal for the new member is for us to get to know you and you to get to know us.
We pride ourselves on being a helpful guild but this is our hobby not a job so please be patient when first joining.
1. The first step as a new member is to visit the web & register an account ( click “new user”) on the top bar. Once registered add yourself to the Soldiers of Fortune guild. You are typically approved within a few days of joining (usually less time).
2. Once registered read everything at the site you can. Post a intro message in the forum.
3. Find a member with two pluses or more (++) next to there name in the guild status page in game (press o , select guild tab, press guild/player status arrow and sort by note). If you do not find one online send them an in game mail Arrange a time with them to take you on an instance (with 3 other new members). If you are new we will train you to do group work at this session. If you are not new to WOW we are watching to make sure you are not a ninja or a need looter and that you have good teamwork skills.
4. If you did well in the instance you will be given a + which means you are eligible for a “master looter course” (described below) be assigned to a unit, and are eligible for the rank of corporal once you hit level 30.
5. If you ask the guild for help on a instance or quest and no one is available we suggest you download and install polite whisper. Polite whisper is an effective player search add on. Google polite whisper warcraft to find the download.
6. If no one can answer your questions in game send an in game mail 7. Send an email to
ygdrasil@online.no with your character name/class/level and professional skill levels. If you do not want to use your primary email than create one at yahoo, gmail, etc.
Soldiers of Fortune
10 Golden Rules
for a
Happy Guild of Hired Mercenaries
- 1. Be mature and friendly.
- 2. Teach a guild member to fish you feed him for life.
- 3. Patience. Mail people if no one can answer your question.
- 4. Follow group leader directions in an instance.
- 5. Let the master looter do his job. Focus on combat.
- 6. If you ask for help don’t leave the group!
- 7. Do not beg anyone for money. Earn it.
- 8. Involve yourself in the guild. Post in the forums.
- 9. Please respect GM’s time. 100+ members. 1 of me.
- 10. Respect the chain of command.
1B. Discipline
We have a fair and simple guild discipline system.
If you observe someone breaking a guideline rule please send the GM a mail or chat if the GM is online. We do not discipline members based on someone’s word against another. We need two witnesses to confirm the behaviour issue.
If it is proven the guild members violated a guideline for the first time a written or verbal warning will be sent to the member.
Second offences regarding begging are grounds for immediate dismissal from the guild!
Second offences for other behaviour can range from a warning/a demotion/a suspension/ or termination from the guild depending upon the seriousness of the offence.
Third offences will usually result in a suspension or termination depending upon the serious of the offence.
1C. Guild Introduction and Mission
I am Týrænsdöttir the daughter of Tyrande the de jure leader of the night elves. I welcome you all as proud members of the Soldiers of Fortune. We are an elite mercenary unit that is contracted by various and nameless alliance interests to do what any regular army cannot or will not do. Our operations are covert and we operate in the shadow so that the peoples of the alliance can live in the light.
The Soldiers of Fortune Mission Statement.
The Soldiers of Fortune will deploy against the Horde in both PvE and PvP combat. We will become one of the leading guilds on Darkspear working with other guilds to conduct large scale raids against key Horde installations. We will help our members develop and reach high levels via organization, leadership, and friendliness.
The Meaning of our Tabard.
The chevron reminds us of our commitment as soldiers. The red is to remember the blood we have spilled both of ours and our foes.
The black background represents our covert nature.
The white border is to remember who we serve: The good light of the Alliance.
The Soldier of Fortune Pledge. 4 Simple Commitments:
To promote, develop, support, and lead the Soldiers of Fortune by all and any means possible.
The Soldier Way
The members of Soldier of Fortune agree to respect rank whether higher or lower and to utilize the chain of command. Members should depend on their superior for help. If the superior cannot help or clarify the issue than the superior should ask up the chain of command. If we are all disciplined in regards to chain of command it will help to keep the workload down.
End of new member guide.
2. Master Looter Designation
Master looter is reflected by two ++ next to a guild member’s guild note.
A master looter is able to lead a group and qualify new members for a + rating. A master looter will receive a bump in rank in their slot if an NCO.
To be eligible for master looter you must accomplish three things:
1. Be level 30.
2. Have a + rating
3. Be certified by a master looter trainer +++ or above.
Master Looter Certification Training.
The group leader will be designated as master looter. They must be competent, calm, and trustworthy. They loot everything and if it is a BoP item then it is rolled for on the spot otherwise it is rolled for at the end of the instance. Chests are rolled for normally. type /roll if you are not familiar with the command.
The master looter has three primary advantages over other forms of looting.
1) It keeps people focused on their combat environment not items. (we believe looting while others are still in combat is a very bad habit).
2) If there are non SOF members in the group it keeps need cheaters at bay
3) The master looter is able to advise SOF members if they really need an item or not (many new players do not understand the usefulness of an item to their class they just want it....for example a new rogue may not realize an intelligence buff in that rare leather item does not do anything for them and it might be better off going to a shaman.)
2nd Component. Leadership observation I cannot know every guild member but We want to make sure our sergeants and up are disciplined, friendly and knowledgeable.
3rd Component. Tactics. We want to make sure that every sergeant knows how to effectively staff a group for a given instance and knows a given instance well enough to be considered an expert in it. We want to have a standard zymology for marking and pulling targets so everyone is familiar with the same system.
4th Component. Commitment. We want guild members to understand the importance that they have their schedule clear for the appropriate period of upcoming group work. We all HATE it when a group members leaves in the middle of an instance. So....letting everyone know up front of the time required and making sure they can commit to it is very important.
Finally. We want everyone to have FUN and be successful on raids. Our training may sound like a lot of rules but they are really just there to improve everyone's playing experience and install basic concepts of teamwork...which is what a guild is about....
3. Guild Bank
We use guild banker.
If you want to use the guild bank you will first need to download guild bank account From here.
http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=3972
You will only be able to see what is in the bank when a banker is online (Velensdottir, Hsbcbank, Nordeabank, Týrænsdöttir
).
If you want to deposit an item to the bank, then only do so if it is green or better.
Deposit the item by mailing it to hsbcbank in game.
I will post the items in the bank to our website in the forums. If you want something from the bank send hsbcbank an in game mail request. This request is processed in a day or two after receiving it.
If you do not have an account established with the bank you will receive an account either by sending gold to add to your account or earning bank gold (bank gold cannot be withdrawn once deposited)!!!!!
3A. How to Earn Bank Gold
Examples how you earn bank gold. THIS WILL BE UPDATED. You must send a mail to request a bank account or gold based upon your achievement.
