After all these years, I have finally decided to come out of my shell, and make more melee styles.  Bard will be my next project.  My question is simple, is it a warchanter that is wanted for raids??  I have looked for builds on the forums, just not sure which one would be better.  Any help would be appreciated.  (forgot to mention, want to melee in my build)  On a side note, armor bracers are not an insight bonus correct??  Now that I can run shroud, I have quite a lot of crafting to do.  Saw a +5 ac insight item that I want to craft, just not sure what it does not stack with...item-wise.
And just for you Org, I am making a Barbarian....this should be fun............yaha

Bards are a difficult one, I'd say decide what you'd enjoy playing most and take it from there... all bards are useful in raids, the bonus with warchanter is a little extra dps and a dr song.

The most popular atm and certainly in the guild is the dwarven warchanter.  This is almost like a mini barbarian(although there are various ways to go) who can buff up and go in and swing its greataxe for lots of dps, can also heal, and cast some spells.  This is a great fun build (sontro/heathers et al) and I love playing it.

Your other main way to go for a toon you will actually play rather than just use to haggle is a spell casting bard.  I believe spellsinger or virtuoso would work with this.  Much higher charisma than the warchanter... so your spells will land more often, however your dps in melee will be much lower (may wish to consider dex/finesse).  I'm not very good on this type of bard, as much as I like playing casters this type was not for me, rerolled mine twice then eventually into a warchanter.  But there is definately still use for this type of bard too.  This bard would have much higher ability to heal with spells, as apposed to the warchanter who will prob only have 1-2 healing spells, but can heal with scrolls np.

Hope that helps!
... its all in good fun until someone loses an eye!

This will help, I am going warchanter, will not go the caster type bard, as that is what I am trying to steer clear of.  Will work on him later tonight.....ty...yaha

My dwarven warchanter likes the dwarven axe and shield. 5% spell failure is ok since the tunes are what ppl want most of the time.  Unless your a certain guildie crying for hastie hastie all the damn time.

yay barbarian!

yay warchanter!

warforged for barb is great, dwarf is a 2nd option. but i think wf better. improved trip is loads of fun. pure 20 barb or 18/2 barb/ftr splash are great. the ftr splash for 2 more feats, ftr haste boost, ftr tactics enhancement, and str enhancement. pure is good for the capstone, mighty rage, etc.

Warchanter dwarf! using greataxes! thats what mine is, i love playing it. Its like a barbarian that can cast haste and heal itself. with 2 levels of fighter you can get pretty good intimi too, and fighter haste boost and more str!

I'm not a bard expert by any means, but i dont really get the sword n board style... bards typically have crap AC anyway, so just got TWF for more dps seems better to me.

the 16/2/2 build seems really powerful, at least until they add warchanter 3 PrE in.  16 bard / 2 ftr / 2 barb. i dont know that much about that build though, that's Gunga's build.  it uses GA and is dwarf i think, like Sontro but with barb. really shines if you like twitch fighting.

my bard is going 16 / 4 ftr. GTWF khopesh human. dps is very nice. 4 ftr for the weapon spec - slash..  if warchanter 3 is awesome i might LR+2 to go back to 18/2.  Fighter haste boost is a great complement to GTWF. Human versatility dmg boost at the same time as haste boost for lots of big numbers.

Dwarf
Str-18
Dex-14??
Con-16
Int-8
Wis-14
Cha-6
Let me know what ya think.......wisdom is for will saves, at least that was the thought process...
Skills I am getting with my 3 skill pts per level.......Jump, Spot, Balance
Feedback is appreciated........My thinking is that dex will not help much anyway, so only put it to there....might be 12, not sure, this is from memory...Yaha

Swapping the 2 barb for 2 rogue is a popular build too.

I'd up con to 18, drop dex and wis so you can up cha a bit. Skill points in Intim instead of spot.

Just a little FYI....this build was in part based off of what SHade had to say on the forums.  He did mention about spot, balance, and jump....said nothing about intimidate.  With a 16 starting con, I should have over 600 hp's come end game, unless that is not enough.....Other than that, I could add intimidate, just not sure I want things beating on me without a decent AC.....Was my thinking anyway.....yaha
Is dex really that much of a dump stat on a barb??  Two handed fighter.....

Cleave, Supreme Cleave, glancing blows, guard effects. It helps to have everything clustered around you. Not to mention stopping them chasing someone else.

Most of the forum crowd are of the opinion the only use for intimidate is holding raid bosses.

EDIT: oops, i meant swap Spot for intimidate ... keep balance!
