Gearing up for a Raid
There are several regular members of the Nektulos Raid Alliance who have been raiding over 2 years with us. To that effect, the work that has been put into their character's armor, weapons, jewelery, combat arts and spells is extensive.
To those that are new with the NRA, we don't expect you to have, right off the bat, the gear, level of raiding experience, master spell and combat art lists that have been gathered by the many with us over time.
What we do expect however is that the level of care to go into raiding anew be taken into consideration before you sign up to join us on a raid. With the growing interest that is occurring with the Nektulos Raid Alliance, we ask that you please follow through with the following. Doing so will help to ensure we all succeed in our raids as well as ensure you a regular spot in the acceptance rosters quite often.
As time goes on, you will end up possessing better gear that you will not have to worry much about these requirements. Starting out however, it is important to the success of the entire raid that you take them into consideration.
There is more than one person analyzing Raid Parse data during and and at the end of the raid, sometimes into the next few days. The regulars at the NRA will probably be inspecting your character throughout the raid to make that sure we are all where we need to be in order to be successful. This is not meant to single anyone out and point fingers, it's to ensure our success and help each other learn about our classes better. Many of us leave a raid knowing more about each others classes than we did beforehand. With open minds, we can all become better raiders.
The Armor you are wearing MUST be of the Tier of the zones we are raiding in. The higher the level requirement to wear, the better it will stand up to the level of encounter we are attacking.
There are very few exceptions to this and mostly those are only considered based on a particular effect that a lower level item may posses that WILL BENEFIT YOU IN THE RAID SETTING. (Jboots will not benefit you at a T7 Raid however a power regen or attack speed item might). Please do not sacrifice more than one piece of high level armor to gain a beneficial effect on a lower level item. It is also better if you have something high level that you can switch off to when that effect will not benefit you in the encounter we are attacking.
Lower level armor with damage procs against a mob will not have much effect on a high level encounter. Please do not wear low level damage proc items.
We ask that you DO NOT show up with Handcrafted or Common quality Armor.
Highly Sought after Treasured/Legendary is acceptable as long as it is of the tier we are raiding in. At the VERY LEAST please have Mastercrafted quality armor.
Please also consider a piece or two of armor with HIGH RESISTS to Arcane, Noxious, Elemental or Trauma procs an encounter may throw at the raid. Such armor may be lower in other primary stats, but the MUST still be of the correct tier.
Jewellery RequirementsSome people consider a piece of Jewellery of a lower tier but high stats on INT, STR, AGI, WIS or STA. While this is more acceptable than showing up with armor of a lower level as there is no mitigation check against jewellery, please do not have more than one piece of lower level jewellery.
Please do not show up with Handcrafted or Common quality Jewellery.

You may wear a lower level piece of jewellery that has a beneficial effect to you IN A RAID SETTING (such as FBSS).
Please also consider a piece or two of jewellery with HIGH RESISTS to Arcane, Noxious, Elemental or Trauma procs an encounter may throw at the raid.
Your weapons MUST be Legendary/Mastercrafted quality or higher, and of the Tier we are raiding in. There are no exceptions to this. Treasured/Handcrafted/Common weapons will be HIGHLY resisted on all raid encounters.
The higher level of the weapon within the tier we are raiding, the better it will slice, dice and pound the level of the encounter we are fighting (L60 Weapons against a L74 Epic x4 will have less effect on L68 weapons against a L74 Epic x4)
Spell and Combat Art Requirements
Please DO NOT consider signing up with the NRA with ANY Apprentice I - IV level spells. Having all Adept I is also not such a hot idea either. Please have the MAJORITY of your spells and CA's at ADEPT III - MASTER quality.
Here is an order of preference if you are considering where to spend your money first.
- Damage - Combat Art/Spells
- Damage - Combat Art/Spells
Ranged Ammo must be of the tier we are raiding in.
Potions/Poisons - Mastercrafted quality of the tier prior and current tier are acceptable for boss encounters. Current tier handcrafted during the rest of the zone is acceptable
Remedies/Reprieves - Mastercrafted quality of the tier prior and current tier are acceptable. Handcrafted of the current tier may not be able to be cured up to the level of the proc that the encounter will throw at the raid.
Food/Drink - Please come with the best quality food and drink to ensure maximum health and power regen between fights, and to boost your stats as much as possible.
The Cost of Gear
All of the gear that you are expected to have when joining NRA raids can be a significant Platinum investment. However, its the same investment that everyone here at the Nek Raid Alliance has made and continues to make in order to succeed in the raid challenges that are presented to us. No where does it state that Joining the Nek Raid Alliance is a free ride. Coming prepared can make the raid more enjoyable for everyone.
