5. Raid Participation
Raiding is supposed to be fun, it is not a grind, but the NRA does expect people to know how to play their class.
Etiquette The NRA performs its communications 95% through Ventrilo Voice Chat. Please be able to at least listen. There will often not be enough time during an encounter to type commands to people in chat if something unusual happens, so being able to hear instructions is essential even if you cannot talk back.
When making calls for significant group buffs (Blades, Death March, etc...) Please call them ONLY TO YOUR GROUP.
When making calls for an aoe group prevention, consider calling this out in group and raid so that the raid leader knows why you are still in for the aoe
The NRA attendees like to kid around... alot!! However, there are certain times during the raid when the appointed raid leaders, main tank group and others who need to perform a task have to speak and be heard and listened to by all. Please give respect to those people at all times.
When an instruction is passed. Please make sure you understand and carry it out. If you feel that what is being said is unclear to you, do not be ashamed to ask for a re-statement of the instructions either on ventrilo, group chat, or personal tells to someone who does understand the instruction.
When a criticism needs to be made of a single person, please speak with that person yourself through personal tells, and in a polite manner if at all possible. If you feel you cannot be polite, pass the criticism to the raid leader for them to hash it out.
When a criticism of a group of people needs to be made, perhaps an instruction was not clear and needs to be restated. Please do so on ventrilo.
When taking the criticism, please understand as stated above that we do analyse data via the parse programs, we can see which individual spells are going off when they should not and who is casting them. We can see exactly when you are hit and in most cases who attacked what first. Be aware of your spells and/ca's and what they do.
If an OOPSE! happens, own up to it and take your lumps with everyone else who has had an OOPSE! moment in the past!
ALWAYS be on the appointed main assist(s).
This is an extensive guide to doing with the NRA and i hope you take it all in stride. It is not meant to single anyone out. It is more to make you aware of what is expected of you for the level of success we have had over the years.
Additional IMPORTANT Tipe/unspoken truths
Curing and Healing:
- Curing Trauma, Arcane, Noxious, Elemental procs on the main tank is PRIORTY #1 in the main tank group.
- Overhealing from ALL PRIESTS PRESENT is encouraged. watch the health level of the mob and try to coordinate with your power level. Be aware of some encounters that heal themselves however. Don't wait for the main tank to dip low in health before you decide to heal.
- After a high damage proc hits your group, you must group heal as quickly as possible.
Mages who cure and heal:
DEBUFF then do damage
DPS Scrutiny: Certain classes are known for their high dps. Even those who are not can sometimes shine on the DPS parse due to aa setup's. Though it is recommended your aa's be setup to benefit the residual effect of hitting the encounter and healing the raid, Higher DPS in your class is encouraged and smiled upon.
If you are not doing the level of dps that is on average what is expected of you without AA's or if you're not doing what is expected even from beneficial buffing or just listening to instructions, you will be considered less and less to come to our events. Encounters in end game will have an extremely high level of hitpoints. This is intended to wear down the raid force in power and allow the mob to get off its raid wide aoe procs more often. This is where high dps is important. End game raiding WILL have a stricter acceptance requirement depending on the zone and how often it has been attempted.
Doing Better: Do not hesitate to ask those of your class who do well and what you can do to get better. Higher dps in your class can ensure success in end game zones (currently EoF zones).
